Patricia “Pat” Elmer-Wolf, 45, born May 5, 1963, passed away at home on Nov. 7, 2008.

She was born in Elko, Nev. and moved to Cave Junction in 1977 with her family. She attended Lorna Byrne Middle School and Illinois Valley High School, where she graduated with her brother, Ray, in 1982.

At IVHS, Pat was on the Honor Roll and played varsity volleyball, basketball and softball. Pat spent two years at Nevada State College in Reno, and then moved to California, where she married and had her son, Bradley. He was the center of her life. She loved him with all her heart.

Pat moved back to Cave Junction four years ago, and lived with her mother, Irish Smith. Her son, Bradley, survives Pat; plus her three brothers, Raymond Elmer, who lives in Connecticut, Casey Elmer, who lives in Reno, Shawn Elmer, who lives in Cave Junction; and her “sister,” Amie Elmer, also of Cave Junction. Pat has five nephews, Bryant, Devan, Curtis, Alec and Owen. She has two nieces, Brittany and Hannah.

Pat was a woman with a big heart. She enjoyed being with her friends and family. She was a very funny person and could brighten the darkest room. Pat will be loved for all eternity and never forgotten.

A celebration honoring Pat will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. at St. Matthias Episcopal Church on Redwood Hwy. in Cave Junction.

Marion O. Empson

No service is planned for Marion Olivia Empson, 91, of Cave Junction, who died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008 at a nursing center in Grants Pass.

Mrs. Empson was born on Dec. 4, 1916 in Brea, Calif. She worked in banking for several years and was a homemaker. She moved from California to Cave Junction 45 years ago.

Surviving are two sons, Clyde “Ed” Empson, of Manhattan Beach, Calif., and Paul Empson, of Lake Los Angeles, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Illinois Valley Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Reta M. Wasilchen

No service is planned for Reta May Wasilchen, 96, of Cave Junction, who died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008 at a care facility in Grants Pass.

Mrs. Wasilchen was born July 22, 1912 in Canada. She was a professional cook and baker. In 2002 she moved from Seattle to Cave Junction. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles and crocheting.

Surviving are a daughter, Joyce Dodson, of Cave Junction; a stepbrother, Bob Wilson, of Long Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Illinois Valley Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
