  • Thursday, Oct. 30
    • Theft of a cell phone from an Illinois Valley High School student was reported.
    • During an enforcement campaign, six drivers were warned about failure to stop for pedestrians in a crosswalk on N. Redwood Hwy. at River Street between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. One driver was warned about speeding.
    • Also in connection with the crosswalk “sting,” Marjorie Banks, 91, was cited on N. Redwood Hwy. at 11:13 a.m. on a charge of driving with a suspended license (DWS) and her vehicle was impounded; Barbara G. Wolf, 70; and Geraldine Gaye McLean, 75, were cited to appear in Cave Junction Municipal Court on a charge of failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
    • Furthermore in connection with the crosswalk operation, Jerry L. Robinson, 28, was cited on charges of DWS and driving uninsured, and his vehicle was impounded; Misty A. Sandoval, 25, was cited on a charge of no operator’s permit and no insurance, and her vehicle was impounded;
    • Still More: Jeffrey S. Bluhm, 44, was cited on a charge of failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk; Jessica L. Green, 30, was cited on a charge of DWS, and her vehicle was impounded; Allen Ralph Gamboa, 44, was cited to appear in CJ Municipal Court on charges of speeding (43 mph in a 30 mph); and, Sean Noel Herbert, 37, was cited on charges of no operator’s permit, no liability insurance, and failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk. His vehicle was impounded.
    • A rural Cave Junction resident complained of an estimated 17 harassing telephone calls from an unknown person in Crescent City, Calif.
    • An intrusion alarm sounded at a Westside Road residence at 3:49 p.m. Neighbors investigating found a broken window and an ax, but no one around. They wisely did not enter the dwelling.
    • A Cave Junction woman reported that she had been pushed and struck by a man the night before.
    • Anthony Herman, 52, was cited on charges of driving uninsured and DWS on S. Junction Avenue at 4:36 p.m.
    • It was reported that a “homeless person” was peeing publicly on W. Watkins Street at 3:27 p.m.
    • Vandalism at a Selma residence sometime during the past week reportedly caused flooding and broken windows, a caretaker said.
    • Demonstrating a blood-alcohol content (BAC) of .17, Barton Lewis Cole, 36, was cited on a charge of driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII) following a motor vehicle incident on Redwood Hwy. at River Street at 8 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 31
    • Theft of items from lockers at Illinois Valley High School was reported captured on surveillance video, a school official said.
    • Although a driver on Ollis Road reported that a pedestrian had kicked the rear of his vehicle “for an unknown reason,” the kicker and a witness stated that the driver had swerved at the pedestrian. At that point the man made a gesture at the driver, who reversed his vehicle toward the pedestrian, who then kicked the car. The driver was warned for making a false report.
    • On W. Lister Street at 5:13 p.m. Timothy Quinn Guillory, 20, was cited to appear in CJ Municipal Court on charges of DWS and no proof of insurance.
    • A half dozen bags of garbage (trash?) were dumped on private property on the south side of Rough & Ready Creek.
    • Troy C. King, 26, was cited on a warrant charging failure to appear (FTA) on a charge of second-degree criminal mischief.
    • A man became irate and shattered a glass door when told a certain nasal decongestant was unavailable at a Cave Junction pharmacy, the manager reported.
    • Rion Kenneth Beason (aka Graves), 18, was cited on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol at Illinois Valley High School at 8:29 p.m. He was transported by American Medical Response to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass.
    • A “Stop” sign was reported down on N. Kerby Avenue at Lister Street at 10:43 p.m.
    • Jeremiah James Mutina, 20, was cited to appear on a warrant charging FTA on an original charge of second-degree criminal mischief.
  • Saturday, Nov. 1
    • William Charles Fischle, 47, was cited on a charge of DUII on Addison Lane at 1:31 a.m. His BAC was listed as .15.
    • A “wild child” sighting involving five or six kids running around on the roof at Evergreen Elementary School was reported at 1:34 a.m. A deputy was unable to locate them.
    • Found hiding in a pump house in the 27000 block Redwood Hwy. during another call at 1:55 a.m., Daniel Brent Morrison, 47, was cited on warrants charging FTA on two counts of fourth-degree assault and DWS.
    • A woman reported that her niece removed license plates from her vehicle following a traffic stop, and refused to return them. They came to a civil compromise.
    • A black plastic bag containing the remains of a deer departed was fished from Sucker Creek near the upper Sucker Creek Bridge.
    • A child on Takilma Road apologized for playing with a phone and calling 911.
  • Sunday, Nov. 2
    • On Caves Hwy. at 12:30 a.m. Jon Praise Williams, 29, was cited on charges of DWS, driving uninsured and possession of a controlled substance (less than an ounce of marijuana). His vehicle was impounded.
    • Jonas Lohr, 61, was cited on a charge of speeding (70 mph in a 55 mph zone), on Redwood Hwy. north of Selma at 1:25 a.m.
    • A “large herd” of cattle was reported in the roadway roughly 1 mile up Happy Camp Road from Takilma.
    • Four persons on an ATV were said to be hunting deer on private property on Westside Road around 9 p.m.
    • Someone on a bicycle was seen near a construction site in Kerby at 9:44 p.m. Apparently, vandalism or theft were concerns.
    • Near 26000 Redwood Hwy., David Wayne Sheldon, 23, was cited on charges of open container (of an alcoholic beverage) and restraining order violation.
  • Monday, Nov. 3
    • Jeremy Justin Beck, 28; and Crystal Dawn Costa, 33, each were cited on a charge of second-degree criminal trespassing after they were found sleeping behind a business in Downtown CJ. Beck later asked, “Where are you supposed to go when you have no place to go?”
    • A report of multiple gunshots someone said they heard in the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy. could not be substantiated by deputies.
    • A stolen red Toyota 4-Runner was recovered off McMullen Creek Road.
    • At a Westside Road residence where a gun-wielding intruder had been reported several days prior, a suspicious individual was seen outside, and items including a rifle and a coffee container were recovered from an old vehicle.
    • Damage to a residence and outbuildings on Hogue Drive was reported by a landlord, who stated that the tenants are being evicted.
    • In Downtown CJ a caller stated that the driver of a white SUV attempted to hit him. A report of a motor vehicle accident including property damage and failure to leave name at the scene of an accident was generated.
    • Patrice Nan Carlton, 46, was cited on a charge of DWS and warned for failure to maintain a lane of travel on Holland Loop at Caves Hwy. at 9:21 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 4
    • Contacted at 1:04 a.m. on Redwood Hwy. at Westside Road because of a defective headlight, Lisa Maxine Garcia, 31, was arrested on a Del Norte County warrant charging possession of stolen property. She was lodged in Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass.
    • Fraudulent use of a credit card was reported by a rural Cave Junction resident.
    • The stripped frame of a 4-by-4 pickup truck was discovered on Kelly Creek Road off Caves Hwy.
    • A quarter-ounce of marijuana was found in a hallway at Illinois Valley High School.
    • William Robert Murphy, 20, was cited on a charge of DWS on Redwood Hwy. at Finch Road at 7:29 p.m.
    • A woman on Kenwood Drive reported continuing harassment by a couple who believed she might have information regarding their runaway daughter.
    • Theft of two handguns, a spotting scope and GPS unit from a residence in the 5500 block of Westside Road was reported.
    • A possibly intoxicated driver in a green Mustang was reported on Redwood Hwy. south of Cave Junction.
    • Gunshots, possibly coming from a moving vehicle, were heard in the 8000 block of Caves Hwy. at 8:20 p.m.
    • A Selma resident reported that someone had fraudulently used her credit card with two online dating services. Apparently the dates weren’t for her.
    • Two men were reported fighting near the intersection of Caves Hwy. and Laurel Road at 11:14 p.m., but no one could be located upon a deputy’s arrival.
    • It was thought that a man found on the ground along Caves Hwy. in the 300 block around 7:30 p.m. had been hit by a car. However, the man got up and wandered away. Illinois Valley firefighters reported that he was a traffic hazard.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 5
    • Jeremiah William Berger, 15, was cited at IVHS on a charge of PCS (less than an ounce of marijuana) within 1,000 feet of a school.
    • An abandoned red Cadillac was said to be blocking a lane of travel on Redwood Hwy. near Lakeshore Drive at 2:19 p.m.
    • A 52-year-old woman was warned against telephonic harassment after another woman reported receiving obscene text messages.
    • An employee with a sanitation service reported finding marijuana in a trash can pulled from an O’Brien residence. It was indicated that a medical marijuana card was on file for the address.
    • On Laurel Road near Laurel Cemetery, it was reported that two horses were injured, one fatally, after being hit by an SUV at 9:26 p.m.
    • A motorist reported a horse running loose on Redwood Hwy. near the former Ghost Town at the north end of Sauer’s Flat at 11:33 p.m.
