Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) conducted a three-hour crosswalk safety enforcement operation Thursday, Oct. 30 in Downtown Cave Junction on Redwood Hwy. at River Street. Four deputies monitored motorists as volunteers entered one crosswalk. Under Oregon law, motorists must stop and remain stopped until the pedestrian has cleared the driver’s lane of travel and the next lane. Some 14 vehicles were stopped, involving eight citations, 11 violations and six warnings; and four vehicles were impounded. (Photos by Michelle Binker, Illinois Valley News)
