OSP stops SUV, finds meth worth $50,000

Two men were arrested Thursday night, Oct. 30 when an Oregon State Police trooper discovered approximately 4.5 pounds of crystal methamphetamine valued at $50,000 in their vehicle during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 south of Ashland.

According to OSP Sgt. David Beck, at approximately 8:47 p.m. an OSP senior trooper stopped a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban southbound on I-5 near milepost 11 for a traffic violation. The vehicle had California license plates.



During the contact the occupants were identified as the driver, Carlos Garcia Uribe, and his passenger, Ignacio Bobadilla, both 39, and both from Antioch, Calif.

Subsequent investigation with the assistance of an OSP drug detection canine led to the discovery of approximately 4.5 pounds of crystal meth wrapped and concealed in the vehicle’s interior.

Both men were arrested and lodged in Jackson County Jail on charges of unlawful possession, distribution, and manufacturing of a controlled substance/methamphetamine.
