Arrests made in home invasion, beating in GP

From our weekly issue dated November 5, 2008

Two young Grants Pass residents are in custody in connection with a home invasion case, and the 82-year-old victim continues to recover.

Arrested were Stephan A. August, 20; and Daniel Z. Harper, 23. The victim is Alan W. Curle, of rural Grants Pass, said Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).

August and Harper each are charged with first-degree burglary, theft and robbery, second-degree assault, and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Curle was found by his care-taker after he missed three appointments. He apparently had been beaten unconscious and left at his home for at least two days.

The home invasion apparently occurred on or around Oct. 23. Curle was found on Oct. 25, and the arrests were made on Oct. 30 after JCSO detectives were able to locate the suspects through credit card use.

The victim was hospitalized for a time; then transferred to a convalescent home.
