Friday, Oct. 3
A Pinewood Way resident complained of continued telephonic harassment because, he said, a woman filled his answering machine with threatening messages.
People were continuing to do business at a property on Elwood Lane although ownership had transferred in late September, a caller stated. They were warned regarding trespassing.
Contacted on Elwood Lane, Larry Lee Warnicke, 55, was cited to appear on a warrant charging failure to appear (FTA) on an original charge of second-degree criminal mischief.
Diane Louis Hill, 53, was cited on a charge of failure to yield when entering a roadway, possibly the cause of a motor vehicle accident with property damage reported in the 200 block of W. Watkins Street at 11:46 a.m.
Kyle Peter Cartwright, 29, was cited on a charge of speeding (45 in a 35 mph zone) on S. Redwood Hwy. at 1:44 p.m. Cartwright was warned for failure to carry current proof of insurance and current registration.
In the 100 block of S. Junction Avenue, Jeremy James Nehf, 31, was cited to appear in Cave Junction Municipal Court on a charge of speeding (35 in a 25 mph zone). He was warned for speeding in a school zone.
On Redwood Hwy. at Hogue Drive, Gary Clyde Fichtner, 63, was cited on a charge of speeding (64 in a 45 mph zone).
It was reported that a man with dark skin, hair and eyes said to a woman at a bar, “You are the most beautiful American woman I have ever seen, but you should be dead.” Then he pulled her hair.
Saturday, Oct. 4
A woman reported having been punched in her mouth by another woman in Downtown Cave Junction.
Investigating another matter, a deputy encountered a man who could not maintain his balance and exhibited slurred speech. The man, who had just purchased more alcohol, was found to have a blood-alcohol content of .299 on a portable breath test device. Subsequently, CJ 76 store employee Cheryl Ann Conas, 44, was cited on a charge of providing alcohol to a visibly intoxicated person. She stated that she did not think the man was drunk, and that the odor of alcohol is “usually strong on transients.”
Vance Kenneth Jenison, 57, was cited on charges of driving while suspended (DWS) and failure to obey a traffic control device on S. Redwood Hwy. at Watkins Street. His vehicle was impounded.
Doreen Lee Miller, 34, was cited on charges of fourth-degree assault and menacing in Downtown Cave Junction at 6:03 p.m.
In Kerby a woman said that she was pushed when she tried to retrieve a ladder from another person’s property. She was informed that retrieval of the ladder was a civil matter.
Michael Scott Yanase, 21, was cited on a charge of DWS in Downtown Cave Junction at 8:46 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 5
John M. Cavanaugh, 20, was cited on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol at 12:41 a.m. in the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy.
Theft of a gray Cadillac sedan from a Fernwood Drive residence was reported.
Gunshots were heard in the vicinity of Queen of Bronze Road at 8 p.m.
Gunfire was reported in the 8000 block of Caves Hwy. at 9:45 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 6
Someone riding a yellow ATV and shooting a pistol was said to be trespassing on private property on Chapman Creek Road.
Some sort of disturbance between a man and a woman occurred behind a former medical clinic on Caves Hwy. at 6:38 p.m.
An intoxicated man, who was reported falling down in the roadway on Watkins Street, was given a ride to the Junction Inn.
David R. Graves, 52, was arrested on charges of probation violation and contempt of court, and lodged in Josephine County Jail.
Following an investigation of several break-ins and thefts in Cave Junction, Stephen Ray Clardy, 52, was cited on charges of two counts each of second-degree burglary, second-degree theft, and second-degree criminal mischief. He was lodged in county jail.
Richard A. Kratochvil, 62, was cited on a charge of driving without insurance on Takilma Road at 11:38 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 7
A 9-year-old girl was warned about playing with a telephone and misuse of 911.
On Schumacher Street at 11:21 p.m., Harvey Herbert Peters, 58, was cited on charges of DWS, driving uninsured and expired registration. His vehicle was impounded.
Wednesday, Oct. 8
On Westside Road a woman reported her teen-age son as a runaway person.
Some 20 bovids were found on Dick George Road at 10:35 p.m. It was not known which ranch they might have come from.
Seven people were contacted on W. Watkins Street and told to move along and stop blocking a public roadway.
Jeremy W. Vineyard, 27, was sentenced in Josephine County Circuit Court to five years in prison for his participation in a March 26 incident on Norman Road in Selma during which three dogs were shot to death and a fourth was wounded. He had been convicted on charges of first-degree burglary and aggravated animal abuse. Co-defendant Jamie J. Newberry, 23, already was sentenced to 19 months in prison.
Seth P. Huddleston, 24, was cited on charges of driving without an operator’s license, and having neither insurance nor current registration. His vehicle was impounded.
An intoxicated man phoned at 8:19 p.m. to say that he wanted to go to jail. Options were presented, and he said that he would find someplace to spend the night.
On S. Caves Avenue a woman reported that her son came home intoxicated and caused a disturbance.
