Dorothy S. Haynie

Former Cave Junction and Grants Pass resident, Dorothy Sanders Haynie, 82, of Holiday, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008 at her home. Visitation was held Saturday, Oct. 4, at Illinois Valley Funeral Directors Chapel in Cave Junction. A funeral service was conducted Sunday, Oct. 5 at the same location. Interment followed at Laurel Cemetery in Cave Junction. Mrs. Haynie was born on June 3, 1926 in Signal Mountain, Tenn. She moved from Tennessee to Manhattan Beach, Calif., where she raised four children as a single mom. After living in Manhattan Beach for 22 years she moved to Cave Junction in 1980. Five years ago she moved to Holiday. She was a member of Bridgeview Community Church in Cave Junction, and the Illinois Valley Quilters. She enjoyed square dancing, gardening, canning, fishing, boating, traveling, and being a grandparent. Surviving are her husband, Orval Haynie, of Holiday; a daughter, Linda Loo, of Odessa, Fla.; three sons, William Sampley, of Cave Junction, and Wallace Sampley and Gregory Sampley, both of Holiday; two sisters, Oleta Quarles of Signal Mountain, and Peggy Hart, of Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

DeLois J. Janssen

Cave Junction resident DeLois J. Janssen, 72, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass. Private interment was held at Laurel Cemetery in Cave Junction. Mrs. Janssen was born July 25, 1936 in Fort Worth, Texas. She worked as office manager for a disposal company in Whittier, Calif. for 15 years. Four years ago, she moved from Desert Hot Springs, Calif. to Cave Junction. She enjoyed arts and crafts. Survivors include her husband, George H. Janssen, of Cave Junction; two children; a sister; a brother; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.

Kathleen A. Collins

A private service will be held for Kathleen Anne Collins, 54, of Cave Junction, who died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass. She was born on Aug. 16, 1954 in California to Frederick & Lilith Collins. In November 2007 she moved from Grants Pass to Cave Junction. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
