Tuesday, Sept. 2
*Area patrol by sharp-eyed Josephine County Sheriff’s Office deputies was conducted throughout the valley from O’Brien to Selma between midnight and 3 a.m.
*An unhappy driver reported at 9:03 a.m. that she’d driven out from under her wallet in the 18000 block of Redwood Hwy. The wallet, which fell from the roof of her car, could not be located.
*A latch and windows were reported broken at a vacant residence in the 29000 block of Redwood Hwy., which was entered “unauthorizedly,” but apparently nothing was taken.
*An ID holder found in the 22000 block of Redwood Hwy. was turned in.
*Firearms were reported stolen from a gun safe at a home in the 38000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*What sounded like semi-automatic gunfire was reported in the 37000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 7:45 p.m.
*A cow that got a bum steer and was on the roadway on Holland Loop at 8 p.m. was returned to its enclosure.
*The rear window of a pickup truck on Pinewood Way was smashed with an aluminum bat, a caller said, who added that he had suspect information. How he knew it was an aluminum bat was not explained.
*A woman phoned to ask for assistance retrieving her belongings, wallet and dog from Pinewood Way.
*Joshua Jason Bowers, 34, was cited on a charge of driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII) in the 1000 block of Caves Hwy. at 10:46 p.m.
*Jodi Marie Jones, 51, was cited by Oregon State Police on a charge of DUII in the 18000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 11:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 3
*The sheriff’s office reported that William Lewis Skelton, 63, died of smoke inhalation at his Wilderville home on Aug. 30 after he apparently discarded a cigarette butt that ignited paper.
*Some sort of family altercation was reported on Finch Road at 11:30 a.m.
*Theft of a generator valued at $300 was reported from a property along Sucker Creek. The suspect, who has been bothering people, was said to be squatting near Grayback Campground.
*Several people were trespassed from Shop Smart Food Warehouse property; and Crystal Costa, 33, was cited on a charge of possession of a controlled substance (PCS) less than an ounce of marijuana.
*Contacted on N. Old Stage Road at 10:48 p.m., Luey Magic Ocean Music Glenn, 19, was arrested on a charge of first-degree criminal mischief and lodged in Josephine County Jail.
*A possible assault in progress was reported on Pinewood Way at 10:51 p.m., but it seems that involved parties left the scene after overhearing radio traffic about the call on a frequency scanner.
Thursday, Sept. 4
*A gray Toyota 4Runner was reported stolen from a residence on Shadowbrook Drive at 1:30 a.m. There was speculation that it was to be used for parts by off-road Toyota pickup truck yahoos.
*A woman phoned 911 seven times between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. to report that she’d been threatened because of a drug deal. She was determined to be disturbed and was warned against misuse of 911.
*Someone in a green convertible was said to have nearly run another driver off Dick George Road at 11 a.m.
*A vehicle reported stolen earlier was recovered off Fernwood Drive at 1:09 p.m. The 4Runner was missing its grill, headlight assembly, taillights, driver- and passenger-side doors and miscellaneous interior parts. All four tires were punctured, and the back window broken, but the ignition was intact.
*Lorraine Dale Dominguez, 54, was cited on a charge of speeding (38 in a 20 mph school zone) on Laurel Road at 3:40 p.m.
*Two people were warned about trespassing on S. Redwood Hwy. at Watkins Street at 4 p.m.
*In Selma a woman said that her daughter, who had been a runaway, was outside being verbally abusive.
*Three Illinois Valley High School students were caught on video drinking from a soft drink bottle found to contain alcohol of the intoxicating kind.
*A motorcyclist complained at 5:06 p.m. that he was nearly struck by a small, dark vehicle traveling at an estimated 100 mph in the vicinity of Holland Loop and Dick George Road. Some questioned the estimated speed, but there was no clarification.
*“Loud, obscene music” was said to have been coming from a residence on Hussey Avenue in Cave Junction for three hours before a caller complained at 4:28 p.m.
*In Kerby a 14-year-old boy was described by his mother to be out of control. A deputy counseled the lad about his behavior.
*Jeremiah James Mutina, 20, was contacted with a group of young men on E. River Street at 7:30 p.m. He was cited to appear on a warrant charging failure to appear on an original charge of second-degree criminal mischief.
*It was reported that a man was “squatting” on private timber property some 10 miles up Caves Hwy.
*Contacted in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy., Chad Barrett Bauer, 40, was arrested on a Curry County warrant charging driving while revoked. He was lodged in Josephine County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct and trespassing. Additionally, Bauer was warned against trespassing on a Caves Hwy. property.
*Ethan Y. Anderson, 19, was cited on a charge of failure to obey a traffic control device on E. River Street at 8:11 p.m.
*Israel James Hopper, 24, was cited on a charge of no operator’s permit at Jubilee Park at 8:43 p.m.
*Someone against whom she’s filed a restraining order left a puppy in the bed of her pickup truck, a Kerby resident reported.
Friday, Sept. 5
*In connection with a traffic stop, Grants Pass Police reported that two Creswell residents were arrested in connection with possessing more than 5 pounds of marijuana valued at $10,000-plus. Jailed were Troy Michael Dicker, 32; and Annette Marie Hamilton-Fowler, 46.
