Best of Show in the 36th annual Illinois Valley Lions Club Labor Day Parade went to the I.V. Section of the Boys and Girls Club; the Rotary Club of I.V. duck was popular; 1st place in the political category went to Jack Brown, Dale Matthews and Sandi Cassanelli; 1st place in the humorous category went to the Red Hat Junction Jezebels; 1st place in the religious division went to Madrone Adventist School; and the float entered by Takilma FM was awarded 1st place in the public service section. Festival, parade results announced

A large crowd turned out in chilly weather to watch the 36th annual Labor Day Festival Parade, sponsored by Illinois Valley Lions Club, in Downtown Cave Junction.

The Best-in-Show award, as chosen by a five-member panel of judges, went to the Illinois Valley Section of Rogue Valley Boys & Girls Club. Other winners chosen by the judges:

*Antique Auto 1st, Shriners antique fire engines; 2nd 1923 Model-T bucket; 3rd 1927 Model-T roadster.

*Classic Auto, 1st 1974 Cadillac convertible custom; 2nd 1957 Chevy Nomad from Tea Cozy & The Book Exchange; 3rd ‘57 Chevy Bel Air from Tea Cozy & The Book Exchange.

*Club/Organization/Adult, 1st Cave Junction Lions Club; 2nd I.V. Senior Center with Jefferson State Financial Group; 3rd Medford Shriners go-karts.

*Club/Organization/Youth, 1st Illinois Valley Section of Rogue Valley Boys & Girls Club; 2nd Fiesta America’s 4-H Cultural Dance Club.

*Commercial, 1st Nacho Mamas; 2nd J’s Feed & Tack; 3rd Cascade Metal Recycling.

*Horse/Adult, 1st Lake Selmac Resort, Belgian draft horses; 2nd Clown riding a horse; 3rd Culpepper Cattle Co.

*Humorous, 1st Red Hat Junction Jezebels; 2nd 1948 Willys Jeepster with Betty Boop & gorilla/Glamor by Jan.

*Marching, 1st, American Legion Color Guard, Glenn Morrison American Legion Unit 70.

*Military, 1st Merchant Marines; 2nd Korean War Veterans Association.

*Music Youth, 1st TRIBE three-man Rock band.

*Political, 1st (three-way tie) Sandi Cassanelli, candidate for Josephine County Commission Position 2; Dave Matthews/candidate for county treasurer; Jack Brown, candidate for commission Position 3; 2nd Don Moore, candidate for mayor of Cave Junction; 3rd county commissioners.
