Tuesday, Aug. 19

*After reporting that his roommate on Kerby Avenue took some of his stuff and that his debit account was overdrawn by $2,000, the complainant couldn’t be contacted, and after seven days the case was closed until he calls back.

Friday, Aug. 22

*Theft of a cell phone from a river bank was reported by a Takilma resident.

*Harassment by a woman wearing a pink shirt (and probably other clothing) was reported by a man in Downtown Cave Junction.

*At Jerry’s Towing, a man was “trespassed” and given advice on how to retrieve his vehicle.

*Jeffrey Tyler Barnes, 17, was cited in Cave Junction on charges of failure to carry proof of insurance and no windshield wipers. His vehicle was impounded.

*Intoxicated members of the area intelligentsia were reported screaming, yelling and driving in circles at Six Mile Campground.

Saturday, Aug. 23

*There was an alarm but no apparent problem at Dome School at 11:26 a.m.

*In Selma a man said he was slapped by another man.

*In Cave Junction, Antionette Latasha Alverson, 28, was cited to appear under a warrant charging failure to appear (FTA) in connection with a previous charge.

*Ashley Nicole Lucas, 23, was cited on a charge of having a defective driver-side headlight in Cave Junction.

Sunday, Aug. 24

*Samuel K. Caldwell, 21, was cited at Redwood Hwy. and Laurel Road at 12:34 a.m. on a charge of violation of the basic rule (VBR), driving 42 mph in a 30 mph zone.

*It seems that a 911 hang-up call from Burch Drive was caused by a dog jumping onto a bed and activating a telephone.

*Some fool apparently smacked the back door of the Illinois Valley Chamber of Commerce office at 12:58 a.m., causing an alarm.

*A girl, 12, was listed as a runaway person from O’Brien after she lifted another 12-year-old girl in a chair and dropped both.

*Only God knows why someone painted orange swastikas on Happy Camp Road at the Oregon/California border.

*On Redwood Hwy. in Selma, Connie Lucille Carter, 60, was cited for driving 70 mph in 55 mph zone. Also near milepost 18, Leonardo Ortega, 54, was cited for driving 75 mph in a 55 mph zone.

*“Dog-torturing by a transient” was reported in Downtown CJ at 6:52 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 25

*At 23 past midnight a woman from Cave Junction was reported as missing because she had not arrived at work in Grants Pass. After many phone calls and contacts, the woman was located. She was OK, and said that she had run out of gas.

*Genius types with baseball bats broke two street lights on Schumacher Street at 1:11 a.m. And a street sign and a “Stop” sign were down.

*Possibly the same geniuses as above used rocks to cause $420 damage to glass doors at Southern Oregon Outreach Food Bank on S. Caves Avenue at 1:49 a.m.

*Six gunshots at 280 Madrona Drive, with people yelling and cussing were reported at 5:47 a.m. No charges were filed; no injuries were found; and the resident at the address said that she was sleeping and didn’t hear a thing.

*Four elderly women in a car were listed in a “suspicious incident” at 7690 Caves Hwy. by a complainant who didn’t appreciate their trespassing on her property.

*Some nut intruded at the Lake Selmac fire camp; took a shower; and left.

*Three rolls of barbed wire valued at $90 each were reported missing from 405 Queen of Bronze Road.

*People at Lake Selmac were concerned about a man with a naked child.

*There was a civil problem involving water in the 2000 block of Caves Hwy.

*Jennie Lynn Hammond, 49, was cited on a charge of VBR, driving 61 mph in a 45 mph zone.

*There was an apparent case of fourth-degree domestic assault at 27748 Redwood Hwy. A report was pending.

*After a report that a man was missing from Westside Road, he was located at a friend’s home.

*A charge of VBR was levied against Landra E. Higbee, 52, for driving 65 mph in a 45 mph zone on Rockydale Road at 8:42 p.m.

*Becky Quarles Swinney, 51, was cited on charges of no insurance and no driver’s license on Rockydale Road. Her vehicle was impounded.

*What sounded like a disturbance in Kerby probably was caused by noisy people walking along Redwood Hwy.

*Two people were reported fighting in Jubilee Park at 9 p.m., and a lot of other people were about. No injured people were located. The complainant was mostly concerned about the racket.

Tuesday, Aug. 26

*Screeching tires and an intoxicated woman who might be driving with a suspended license figured in a call at 1:01 a.m. from the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy.

*A possibly intoxicated driver on Redwood Hwy. near Cave Junction was contacted at 12:38 p.m., but was found to be not intoxicated.

*People “with differences” had some sort of domestic violence incident on Tracy Lane, but no charges were pressed.

*From Kerby came a 911 hang-up call. It was caused by a 3-year-old child. All was OK.

*Someone on E. River Street complained about a large truck, but details were unclear.

*People fire guns at 2 a.m. on Draper Valley Road, a resident complained.

*On W. Lister Street a man said that one of two dogs bit his leg after he turned around. The owner said he thought his children let out the animals. No charges were filed.

*There was a complaint from a woman in Cave Junction who keeps saying that people are getting into her house.

*Several valley areas were patrolled to watch out for bad people doing bad things.

*The bartender at a Cave Junction watering hole said that he was assaulted by a patron, who was held down.

Wednesday, Aug. 27

*A man’s probation officer was to be notified that one of his clients was contacted in Cave Junction at 22 past midnight and that he had been drinking and had been “trespassed” from a bar.

*A “Stop” sign was down at Schumacher Street and Sawyer Avenue, a deputy noted close to 1 a.m.

*Several Illinois Valley locations were patrolled in the predawn hours.

*In the 23000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 1:45 a.m. a man driving a car ran off after being stopped, but returned. The registered owner showed up, and was warned for having a white light to his rear.

*Subsequent to a small brush fire at 4:49 a.m. near Rogue Community College in Grants Pass, a deputy found what appeared to be a Molotov cocktail that had been thrown from a motor vehicle.

*Theft of a solar panel was reported in the 6000 block of Takilma Road.

*Theft of a $700 mountain bike was reported by a camper in the county camping area at Lake Selmac.

*Street signs at Krauss Lane and Airport Drive were missing; “Stop” signs were OK.

*Several street-type people were contacted at Jubilee Park at 3:05 p.m.

*A “Stop” sign was down at Sawyer Avenue and Schumacher Street.

*Although a man listed a suspect in the theft of his debit card, which he said the person used, and reported loss of $1,700 from his safe, the complainant on S. Old Stage Road didn’t want to pursue charges.

*Pomeroy Estates and surrounding area were patrolled during late afternoon.

*On Schumacher Street a woman reported that she woke up at 4:19 p.m. to the sound of her door being opened and someone running out. She’s reported trouble with people ringing her door bell and rattling her door handle at night.

*On Schumacher Street, James Arthur Ryan, 50, was cited to appear on a warrant from Eagle Point charging contempt of court/failure to pay a fine. Three other people with him were interviewed.

*There was a call about a suspicious incident at 4840 Dick George Road involving a dark-colored car that pulled up behind a mail carrier, and after the latter left, all the mailbox doors were open.

*“Spinning donuts” on his driveway has occurred twice during the past two weeks, said a resident at 262 Thompson Creek Road.

*Shellie Marie Martin, 39, was cited to appear on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), probation violation, and driving while suspended. Her vehicle was impounded.

*Although it was assumed that a certain street person was the one drunk and disorderly in Jubilee Park, the person cited was Timothy Ivan McKelly, 50.

*Following a report of a highly intoxicated person in Kerby, Brian Anthony McManus, 46, was arrested on a charge of parole violation. His blood-alcohol content was listed at .22.

*Although she was driving erratically, a woman finally contacted at that “bug station” at the Oregon/California border, was not intoxicated. But she had a medical appointment the next day.

*Two hold-up alarms were received from Michelle’s Family Restaurant at 10:30 p.m., but they appeared to be caused by employee error.

*Five dopey juvenile people were reported being disorderly in Downtown Cave Junction at 10:45 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 28

*During the predawn hours, a deputy conducted area checks including Evergreen Elementary School, Jubilee Park, Downtown Cave Junction, O’Brien Country Store, Rough & Ready Lumber Co., and Illinois River “Forks” State Park.

*Something was checked at Lake Selmac at 2:36 a.m., and several Selma area locations were checked.

*There was a possible trespasser at the U.S. Forest Service complex in Cave Junction at 8:19 a.m., but no one was located.

*A resident at 8829 Deer Creek Road reported that two beds were disheveled, and that two stereo speakers and a 35mm camera with a total value of $200 were missing in a case of first-degree burglary.

*For some reason, a man was “trespassed” from Lake Selmac at 3:07 p.m.

*In Cave Junction a pastor was notified after a man said that he had been receiving suicidal text messages from a woman.

*Suicidal comments by a man on Caves Hwy. were reported, but it was unclear if the complainant was accurate.

*OSP was notified by American Medical Response that someone driving a gray Honda was failing to yield to emergency lights on a responding ambulance on Hwy. 199 at Hay’s Hill.

*At a CJ restaurant the owner wanted a customer “trespassed” because he has twice left a check at the cash register, and the business does not accept checks.

*Two people were “trespassed” from a CJ café.

*Something happened at Jubilee Park at 5:47 p.m.

*Following a report that a woman tried to take a radiator from a Caves Hwy. site, Jo Anne Bellah, 46, was arrested and taken to county jail under warrants charging FTA on a charge of providing false information, two counts each of manufacturing and distribution of a controlled substance, and child neglect/possession of dangerous drugs.

*Following an intruder alarm at Lorna Byrne Middle School at 8:09 p.m., it was felt that the cause was a door that moved and triggered a motion detector.

*Lake Selmac was checked at 8:11 p.m.

*Deputies responded near 9 p.m. after people at Chinquapin Campground out Caves Hwy. left the area because of intimidation by a hostile man. Deputies believe they know who he is, and that he’s camped nearby. After returning to the site, the campers found that camping items valued at $300 were missing.

*People on Pinewood Way had a problem involving pepper spray at 9:51 p.m. A man was cited, but it was unclear as to the charge.

*On Takilma Road a woman said that she was evicted, and she was not happy about it.
