27th annual Blackberry festival
From our weekly issue dated August 13, 2008
The 27th annual Wild Blackberry Arts & Crafts Festival was held in Downtown Cave Junction and Jubilee Park on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 9 and 10. Blackberry goodies, bingo, live music, children's activities and other attractions were featured. Mark Russo, who coordinated the event with his wife, Judy, said that it was a good festival, but that lower attendance than usual was disappointing. The nonprofit programs in the park were quite successful, and the organizations including I.V. Family Coalition plan to be involved again next year, he said. Russo noted that 40 percent of vendors who signed up did not attend. There will be a 28th annual festival using a similar format, Russo said. Views of the Jubilee Park events will be in next week’s issue. (Photos by Ali Madjdi for Illinois Valley News)
