Friday, July 25
*Three people were contacted at 11:04 a.m. in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy.
*Behind a business in the 200 block of S. Redwood Hwy, five persons were contacted at 11:13 a.m.
*An officer, flagged down by a citizen near Illinois Valley Visitor Center, was told of concerns regarding transients and litter at Jubilee Park.
*Medications were reported stolen from an Airport Drive residence.
*A possibly intoxicated driver in a blue pickup truck on Holland Loop was reported at 3 p.m.
*Another possibly intoxicated driver was reported in a black SUV in Downtown Cave Junction at 5 p.m.
*Derek Scott Mendez, 18, was cited into Cave Junction Municipal Court on a charge of defective lighting after a traffic stop on N. Kerby Avenue at 5:16 p.m.
*On W. River Street a custody dispute was reported at 6:10 p.m.
*A “hostile and belligerent” man phoned from an Illinois Valley RV park to complain that his belongings were being thrown around and power-washed. He did not leave a name.
*Two drivers were cited simultaneously on Redwood Hwy. near Rough & Ready Lumber Co. for violation of the basic rule (VBR)/driving too fast for conditions. Cited were Tyler Allen Hills, 22; and Nathan C. Hills, 17.
*On Redwood Hwy. at Rockydale Road at 11:40 p.m., Daniel Otto Breedlove, was cited on a charge of speeding (55 mph in a 45 mph zone).
*A large party (a group of people) on Millie Street was complained about at 11:56 p.m.
Saturday, July 26
*It was claimed at 12:37 a.m. that an individual was riding a dirt bike without lights southbound on Redwood Hwy. through Selma.
*Allen Douglas Von Nevin Jr., 29, was cited on charges of speeding, VBR and driving with a suspended license (DWS) in the 22000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 12:49 a.m. A deputy noted that Von Nevin was “driving in excess of 80 mph,” and had admitted to drinking “at least a couple of beers.” OSP conducted a field sobriety test.
*At 1:10 a.m. Derek Scott Mendez, 18, was cited on Rockydale Road on a charge of speeding (60 mph in a 45 mph zone) and warned for defective illumination and failure to maintain a lane.
*It appeared that a motor vehicle theft was disrupted on Stevenson Street at 4:42 a.m.
*Two people were warned about trespassing in the 200 block of W. Watkins Street at 12:42 p.m.
*Debra Cross, 49, was cited to appear in Cave Junction Municipal Court on a charge of speeding (45/30).
*Several people were contacted and warned for littering at Seats Dam off Airport Drive at 6:18 p.m.
*Contacted at a site near the green bridge off Illinois River Road, James Martin Templeton Jr., 41, was cited on a federal charge of disorderly conduct. Templeton also was cited on a warrant charging failure to appear (FTA) on an original charge of driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII).
*In the 300 block of S. Redwood Hwy., Jason Troy Halsstead, 32, was cited on charges of driving without an operator’s permit, without insurance and without current proof of registration. The vehicle was impounded.
*A stolen car was recovered off Eight Dollar Mountain Road, and a stolen motorcycle recovered in the 300 block of E. River Street.
*In connection with the previous incident, Allen Douglas Von Nevin, 29, and Kyle David Their, 24, each were cited on charges of felon in possession of a weapon and possession of stolen property.
*A loud party was complained about in the 100 block of N. Old Stage Road. at 11:49 p.m.
Sunday, July 27
*Hoppow Peter William Norris, 30, was cited on charges of driving uninsured and without an operator’s permit on Redwood Hwy. in Kerby at 3:25 a.m.
*Sean Christopher Ethan Smith, 25, was cited on a charge of harassment following some sort of argument about a dog with a neighbor in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*American Medical Response transported a wheelchair-bound 95-year-old man who complained of hip pain after he said that he was assaulted by a 63-year-old woman in Downtown Cave Junction. A report on charges was pending while the man recuperates in a hospital.
*A man said that another man and two women were chasing him around Cave Junction, threatening his life.
Monday July 28
*A property owner on Madrona Drive said that a drunk was refusing to take his belongings and leave.
*Around 10 a.m. a disorderly woman refused to leave the Illinois Valley Family Resource Center on E. River Street and began to disrobe when told to leave. She did leave, and the complainant was advised to lock the door in case she came back.
*On Holland Loop a man said that he found the badly decomposed remains of his missing bull. It had been shot. A report of aggravated animal abuse was pending.
*A Westside Road resident reported finding sugar around the lip of his gas tank. His mechanic said it would cost some $500 to clean it out. A report for criminal mischief was filed.
*Two girls, ages 15 and 11, were said to have thrown eggs at a N. Junction Avenue residence.
*A mailbox on Thompson Creek Road was damaged by shotgun blasts, a caller reported.
*Whoever entered a vacant house on Hussey Avenue left behind a fanny pack with ID, a caller noted.
*Larry Leroy Stockman, 61, was cited on a charge of speeding in Kerby at 7:06 p.m.
*Holger Thomas Sommer, 58, was cited on a charge of speeding (70 mph in a 45 mph zone) on Redwood Hwy. at Laurel Road at 8:14 p.m.
*On Lakeshore Drive at 8:40 p.m., Erik Joshua Kovis, 39, was cited on a charge of DWS. Additionally, Kovis was cited on warrants charging FTA on original charges of DUII, reckless driving and reckless endangering.
*Removal of approximately $50,000 worth of laundry equipment from a Cave Junction business was reported.
*“Slut” was scratched into the driver-side door of a car parked at Store Gulch on Illinois River Road. Damage was estimated at $1,000.
*Laura Lyn Huffman, 43, was cited on a charge of speeding (71 mph in a 55 mph zone) on Rockydale Road at 11:33 p.m.
Tuesday, July 29
*With a listed blood-alcohol content of .17, Chad Barrett Bauer, 40, was cited on a charge of DUII on S. Old Stage Road in Cave Junction. His vehicle was impounded.
*Joshua William Rosenberry, 24, was cited on a charge of DWS, and his license seized. Stopped while operating a 50cc motorcycle on Airport Drive, Rosenberry also was warned for failure to wear a helmet, driving without insurance, operating an unlicensed vehicle on a roadway and the tow ordinance.
*In Cave Junction a woman reported being pushed by another woman, but declined to pursue harassment charges.
*Deputies responded to a reported fight or gang incident on W. River Street at 11:03 p.m. Subsequently, Jerry Victor Lewis Owens Jr., 24, was arrested on a warrant from Multnomah County charging carrying a concealed weapon. He was lodged in Josephine County Jail.
Wednesday, July 30
*An anonymous caller complained about speeding traffic on Lakeshore Drive.
*In Selma a 13-year-old girl was reported as a runaway juvenile person.
Thursday, July 31
*Police officers and Fire & Rescue personnel from Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety responded at 4:12 a.m. to Morrison Centennial Park and found a playground structure fully involved in flames. The fire was quickly extinguished and was never a danger to nearby apartments. Anyone with information on arson suspects is asked to phone 474-6370.
Friday, Aug. 1
*Gloria Jean Silvey, 53, was cited on a charge of DUII following a single-vehicle accident on Rockydale Road at 1:58 a.m.
*Six 5-gallon paint cans with lids were found in Lake Selmac. Narcotics detectives were to investigate, as it was thought the items might be from a meth lab.
*Contacted in Downtown Cave Junction, Jeremy Justin Beck was cited on a warrant charging FTA on an original charge of third-degree theft. Crystal Costa was cited on a charge of FTA on a charge of fourth-degree assault.
*Buckets reported in Lake Selmac appeared to an investigator to be some alternate form of fishing.
*Several minor persons (age-wise) were trespassed from a dam near Cave Junction city limits off Schu-macher Street after gunshots were reported.
*Contacted at Jubilee Park, Melissa Jan Lowenstein, 61, was cited on warrants charging DUII, and first- and second-degree criminal mischief.
*In Selma a woman complained of telephonic harassment by her boyfriend’s former employer.
*An 18-year-old person was sought after a reported incident of domestic assault on S. Junction Avenue.
