Troopers snag 14 pounds of pot; arrest three

An Oregon State Police traffic stop last week led to the arrest of three people and seizure of approximately 14 pounds of marijuana on Interstate 5 near Ashland.
On July 21 at approximately 8:15 a.m. OSP troopers from the Central Point Area Command office stopped a 2003 Dodge Neon with Oregon license plates for a traffic violation on I-5 near milepost 11. The two occupants were identified as the driver, Estella Lopez, 48; and a passenger, Jaime Hernandez, 37, both from Fort Bragg, Calif.
Subsequent investigation led to troopers finding approximately 14 pounds of marijuana in the car. OSP estimated the value at $60,000.

Additional information led to the stop of an associated vehicle occupied by the driver, Cesar Hernandez Ornelas, 20, from Beaverton, Ore., and his passenger, Jaime Hernandez Rico, 33, from Burlington, Wash.
Troopers arrested and lodged three of the four people in Jackson County Jail:

Lopez was arrested on charges of unlawful possession and delivery of a controlled substance/marijuana Ornelas and Rico were arrested on charges of unlawful manufacturing, possession, and delivery of a controlled substance/marijuana.
The fourth person, Hernandez Ornelas, was cited and released on charges of unlawful possession and distribution of a controlled substance/marijuana. Investigation is continuing, OSP said.
