Saturday, June 14
*It was reported that someone was moving traffic cones on Redwood Hwy. near Hanby Lane. Nothing appeared out of place, however.
*Reported swerving “all over the roadway” in Selma at 2:03 p.m., a possibly intoxicated driver then stopped to recycle some beer cans at a grocery store.
*In Cave Junction a woman reported that her ex-husband left three messages on her office phone threatening to return.
*On E. River Street, theft of a .40-caliber handgun, shoulder holster and extra clip was reported.
*A Garner Road resident said that a neighbor had been shooting at her dog with a pistol. The neighbor admitted to firing a .BB gun “when the dogs were on his property.” He was advised to phone Animal Control instead.
*An elderly driver was warned for impeding traffic and failure to maintain a lane while searching for an address on Rockydale Road.
*Just before 6 p.m., gunshots were heard coming from the area of Seats Dam, where it was thought a large party of teen-aged persons was hanging out. The caller requested extra patrol of the area.
*A domestic disturbance was reported at the 5000 block of Westside Road.
*On White Schoolhouse Road it was suspected that underage persons were drinking at a party.
Sunday, June 15
*A swarm of thousands of bees was reported occupying the open-air stage at Jubilee Park. Cave Junction officials were notified.
*Two people were warned about residing on federal forest property out Illinois River Road at Six Mile Campground.
*Lucian M. Heatherstone, 25, was cited on a public nudity charge in the 9000 block of Illinois River Road at 3:26 p.m.
*Several ATV operators were warned for driving on pavement in the 10000 block of Illinois River Road at 3:46 p.m.
*In the 17000 block of Redwood Hwy. a tenant said that her landlord cut off electrical power two days before she was to move out.
*Intoxicated people were said to be begging behind a restaurant in Downtown CJ and refusing to leave at 5:54 p.m.
*Three people were contacted after-hours at Illinois River “Forks” State Park.
*Following a vehicle pursuit on Lakeshore Drive and Reeves Creek Road at speeds of 19 to 30 mph, Richard Alan Sheppard, 52, was cited on charges of driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII), having a reported blood-alcohol content of .11, probation violation and felony eluding. Sheppard was lodged in Josephine County Jail.
*In connection with the preceding incident, Richard Alan Sheppard, 52, was cited on a Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety warrant charging failure to appear (FTA) on an original charge of DUII. His vehicle was impounded.
*Extra patrol was conducted at Lake Selmac around 10:30 p.m.
*Melissa Karen Fulton, 30, was cited on a charge of driving with a suspended license (DWS), and driving without insurance on Reeves Creek Road at 10:43 p.m.
*A woman said that she’d been almost run off Airport Drive by the driver of a brown Jeep Cherokee. She thought there might be an underage party going on at Seats Dam.
Monday, June 16
*A complaint of loud music came from the 5000 block of Westside Road at 1:24 a.m.
*Theft of an ATV from a campsite at Lake Selmac was reported by a visitor from California.
*A green Bronco was reported stolen from the 29000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*Lee Ray Lewis, 58, was cited on warrants charging FTA on original charges of fourth-degree assault, menacing, identity theft and contempt of court.
*Following a disturbance in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy., Stephen Ray Cooper, 36, was cited on a charge of fourth-degree assault.
*Some sort of disturbance was reported on Aries Lane. A woman was heard to yell, “If anyone can hear me please call the police!” No one was at the residence when a deputy arrived.
*Air staplers and cordless screwdrivers were reported stolen from a business in the 30000 block of Redwood Hwy.
Tuesday, June 17
*Loud music, screaming and the sound of items being thrown were reported at an Aries Lane residence at 2:22 p.m.
*No citations were issued following a single-vehicle accident in the 2900 block of Holland Loop reported at 9:18 p.m.
*An alarm sounded at SOFCU Community Credit Union at 11:29 p.m. due to a rock thrown at a window.
Wednesday, June 18
*Following an early morning pursuit of a reported stolen vehicle, and then a foot pursuit by a deputy and his K-9, Joshua Dale Walters, 18, was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding a police officer, reckless driving, and interference with a police dog.
*In connection with the preceding incident, Joshua Dale Walters was treated for dog-related injuries.
*Craig C. Hackney, 51, of Myrna Lane, was arrested after a woman said that she and her daughter were shot at while they were riding horses in the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy. on the north side of Cave Junction.
