Leif Reesen

A gathering to celebrate the life of Cave Junction resident Leif Reesen, 90, who died Friday, May 16, 2008 at a Grants Pass nursing home, will be held Sunday, June 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Reesen home.

Mr. Reesen, a Cave Junction resident, was born June 8, 1917 in Denmark. He immigrated to Canada in 1954, and moved to the United States in 1959. He operated a heating and air-conditioning business in California. He retired in Oregon, spending his later years in Cave Junction. He was an active Mason for many years.

Mr. Reesen is survived by his wife of 68 years, Greta; his son, Michael, of Texas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith, in 1999.

Don F. Gibbs

Longtime Cave Junction resident Don F. Gibbs, 81, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at a Grants Pass care facility.

Mr. Gibbs was born on July 5, 1926. He owned and operated the former Redwoods Telephone Co. that served Illinois Valley. He also owned Gibbs Enterprises.
