Oregon State Police troopers are seeking the driver of a car who left the scene of a rollover crash in another vehicle Wednesday night, May 7 around 9:45 between Selma and Kerby.

The accident occurred on Hwy. 199 near milepost 23.5 (Sis’s Gap), said OSP. The vehicle is a blue, two-door 1981 BMW 320-I. Besides OSP, the call was answered by Illinois Valley Fire District, Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, and American Medical Response.

The driver faces charges of second-degree criminal mischief, and failure to leave name at the scene of an accident.

OSP said that the vehicle was southbound, but that the driver went onto the paved shoulder and a gravel ditch. The car traveled some 1,000 feet before striking a phone cable box and a surplus utility pole at the entrance to a driveway, said OSP.

The vehicle rolled onto the driver’s side, and came up against a large tree causing damage to the engine compartment and hood before coming to rest.

A witness saw the driver get into another vehicle and leave, OSP reported.
