Hope remains, reward offered for man missing from CJ since ‘06

The mother of a man missing since May 2006 is still is hopeful that he, or at least his body, will be found, and is offering a $5,000 reward for “verifiable” information.
He last was seen at Shady Acres RV Park, south of Cave Junction.

Patrick “Thatcher” Mahurin, who moved to Ashland with his family in 1997, disappeared from his Cave Junction trailer on Mother’s Day of ’06. Mahurin, a 42-year-old with a severe learning disability, was known around the Ashland community for always carrying his keyboard with him, which he played at various locations around town.

He moved to Cave Junction two months before his disappearance. His mother, Lee Mahurin, of Ashland, said that she usually heard from him several times a day. On Mother’s Day ‘06, she said he called and on his keyboard played her a song that he’d written. After the song, he got back on the line and said that he loved her.
