  The Josephine County Board of Commissioners voted 2-1 on Wednesday, April 30 to include an Illinois Valley site on the county’s Significant Aggregate Resource list.

• Fed dollars for JoCo aim of Walden

  

  An extension of county payments to cover the next four years is strongly pushed by Second District Congressman Greg Walden (R-Ore.)

• Reprieve for valley’s unit of B&G Club

  

  Although it seemed that closure was imminent for the Illinois Valley Unit of Rogue Valley Boys & Girls Club, the doors will remain open.

• May 20 deadline for primary vote

  

  Several elective offices, including two seats on the Josephine County Board of Commissioners, are included in the Voters’ Pamphlet for the Tuesday, May 20 vote-by-mail primary election.

• Hope remains, reward offered for man missing from CJ since ‘06

  

  The mother of a man missing since May 2006 is still is hopeful that he, or at least his body, will be found, and is offering a $5,000 reward for “verifiable” information.

  The May 9 Second Friday Art Walk in Downtown Cave Junction will kick off Mother’s Day Weekend with family fun for everyone from 5 to 8 p.m.

• Drive for green with ‘Dollar Days’ at I.V. Golf site

  

  “Dollar Days” at the course in Cave Junction have been announced by Illinois Valley Golf Association (IVGA) “in appreciation of all who have supported affordable golf in Illinois Valley since the founding of the association in the 1970s.”

• Library system funding group progressing well

  

  Other than during National Library Week, April 13-19, Josephine Community Libraries is encouraging people to become members and help reopen libraries in Cave Junction, Grants Pass, Williams, and Wolf Creek.

• ‘Ecostry’ program in Selma set May 18

  

  “Ecostry: The Art of Seeing Through Nature’s Eyes” is the topic for a presentation Sunday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Selma Community Center, 18255 Redwood Hwy.

  LTA, the Illinois River Valley Arts Council (IRVAC) Learning Through Art program, brought dragons and mandalas to sixth-graders at Lorna Byrne Middle School in Cave Junction on Tuesday, April 8.

• IVHS Cougar baseball defeated by Phoenix

  

  The Cougar baseball team from IVHS lost both ends of a double-header against Phoenix, 9-1, 9-1 on Saturday, May 3 in Cave Junction. The losses took Illinois Valley to 0-12 in the Skyline Conference, while Phoenix took the Skyline lead with 11-1.
