Nicole Lynn Horn
Nicole Lynn Horn, 14, of Kerby, a student at Illinois Valley High School, died Thursday, March 27, 2008 in Selma as a result of an automobile accident.
A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 20 at Illinois Valley High School with Pastor Stan Smith of Illinois Valley Baptist Church officiating.
According to a coroner report related by her family, Nicole, (who did not live in Eugene as mistakenly reported April 9), died instantly from a broken neck in a motor vehicle accident in Selma on Thursday, March 27, 2008.
Parents are Michelle & Eric Blankenship, of Cave Junction; and Brett & Gena Horn, of Kerby.
Illinois Valley Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Robert Lee Heatherly Jr.
A private service was held for Cave Junction resident Robert Lee Heatherly Jr., 38, who died Monday, March 31, 2008 in Cave Junction.
Mr. Heatherly was born on Sept. 4, 1969 in Eureka, Calif. to Robert & Yvonne Heatherly. He attended Cave Junction schools and lived in Cave Junction for 19 years.
For three years he worked as a laborer for Admiral Construction, and for the past year was a maintenance man for High Pines Trailer Park. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Oakland Raiders.
Survivors include his mother, Yvonne Heatherly, of Redding, Calif.; six sisters, Debbie Harrington, of Seattle, Chrystal Stallone, of Redding, April, of Arkansas, Christine Burrow, of Grants Pass, Yvonne Evans, of Cave Junction, and Nichole Washington, of Redding; two brothers, Lloyd Heatherly, of Herbert, Utah, and James Harrington, of Missouri.
Illinois Valley Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
Fannie P. Benacci
Selma resident Fannie P. Benacci, 90, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass.
Rosary was recited Friday, April 11 at Chapel of the Valley-L.B. Hall Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, April 12 at St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church in Cave Junction. Father Peter O’Brien officiated.
A committal service was held Monday, April 14 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos, Calif. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
Mrs. Benacci was born Fannie Phyllis Servidio on Feb. 22, 1918 in Manlius, N.Y. to Anthony & Barbara Servidio. She married Albert Anthony Benacci in 1936 in Erie, Penn. She raised her family in Erie; moved later to San Jose, Calif.; and moved from there to Selma in 1996 to live with one of her daughters.
Mrs. Benacci was a member of St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church. She also was a member of Illinois Valley Senior Center, and enjoyed bunco and poker nights with her friends in the area.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda A. Crawford, of Selma, and Grayce Klass, of Mission Viejo, Calif.; six grandchildren, all of California; and nine grandchildren. Besides her husband, four brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
