‘Bonnie’ Dutcher
Georgetta “Bonnie” Dutcher, 79, of Cave Junction, died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at her home.
A memorial gathering of family and friends was held all day, Friday, March 14 at “James & Teri’s home.”
Mrs. Dutcher was born March 6, 1929 in Sacramento. She enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls.
Surviving are her children, Michael Allen Sharp, Lawarance Eugene Biggs, Timothy Grant Biggs, James Howard Mitchell, Danial William Mitchell, Cynthia Suzanne Mitchell, Edith Louann Smith, Rebecca Noreen Smith and Samual Lee Smith; 39 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Jessie Bruce LaVine, and Jack Dean Biggs.
Southern Oregon Cremation Services was in charge of arrangements.
‘Pat’ Eldred
Patricia Joan “Pat” Eldred, 66, of Cave Junction, died Sunday, March 9, 2008 at her home.

She was born Dec. 19, 1941 in Eugene. She lived in Marcola and Myrtle Creek before moving to Cave Junction in 1974. On March 12, 1960 in Myrtle Creek she married Floyd Eldred.
In 1983 she moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where she lived until 1990 when she returned to the Cave Junction and O’Brien areas. For four years she volunteered at Illinois Valley High School as a cook until she was hired and continued to work there until her retirement earlier this year.
Her hobbies included flower gardening, reading, cooking, fishing, and hunting. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Floyd Eldred, of Cave Junction; she is survived by a daughter, Karla Eldred, of Portland; an adopted daughter, Kasondra Eldred, of Cave Junction; two sons, Allen Eldred, of Cave Junction, and Walter Eldred, of Anchorage; her mother, Jane Hiteshew, of Cave Junction; a brother, Joe Hiteshew, of Scio; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Eldred.
Illinois Valley Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
Betty Jane Slavin
Betty Jane Slavin, 57, of Cave Junction, died Monday, March 10, 2008 at her home.
A graveside service was held Saturday, March 15 at Laurel Cemetery in Cave Junction with Pastor Dan Robinson of Takilma Bible Church officiating.

Mrs. Slavin was born Betty Jane Slater on Jan. 2, 1951 in Brookville, Penn. to Alfred & Clara (Wilson) Slater. With her family she moved to California, and in 1969 she graduated from Sylmar High School. In 1971 in Sylmar she married Vaughn Slavin.
In 1979 she moved from Sylmar to Cave Junction, where she worked at Jim’s Produce, Sears, and Siskiyou Market. During the past several years she worked at Pharmacy Express in Cave Junction as a pharmacy technician.
She attended Community Bible Church in Cave Junction. As a young mother, she volunteered with the school’s Bible Release program.
She especially enjoyed raising her children. Her hobbies included playing bunco, crafts, baking, flower and vegetable gardening, reading, especially fiction, and needlepoint.
Besides her husband, Vaughn Slavin, of Cave Junction; surviving are two daughters, Athena Slavin, of Eugene, and Aurora Goff, of Grants Pass; two sisters, Cora Huggins, of Missouri, and Ruth Barber, of Arizona; two brothers, Vince Whipp, of Tennessee, and Edward Slater of California; and a grandson.

Corrections
Because of incorrect information provided for an obituary about Eric Neil Martinho in the March 12 issue, the name of Maria Martinho was not printed correctly. She was a sister of Eric Martinho, and died before he did.
