Opportunities are available to help boost patronage and keep Oregon Caves Chateau operating beyond the 2008 season.
Operated by IVCDO (Illinois Valley Community Development Organization), the historic Chateau at Oregon Caves National Monument is seeking regional businesses to sponsor joint promotional efforts.
And regional organizations are encouraged to schedule retreats, conferences and other events. As well, sponsors are needed to fund retrofitting individual rooms and other parts of the Chateau.

IVCDO added that private donations and nonprofit foundation grants are needed to help sustain IVCDO’s current efforts. And increased membership in Friends of the Oregon Caves Chateau could provide long-term financial resources, the organization added.
According to an announcement, the IVCDO Board of Directors “has confronted the hard reality, that given current operational trends, the organization cannot operate the Chateau beyond the 2008 season.

“The board, at considerable risk, is committed to continuing to operate the Chateau as along as IVCDO has the funds, with the hope that new partners can provide the capital and increased business necessary to sustain the effort into 2009 and beyond.
“The year 2009 is an important and promising milestone, being the 75th anniversary of the Chateau; the centennial of the monument; and the 150th birthday of Oregon statehood.

“These celebrations would increase the likelihood of restoration funding, and of heightened public awareness and patronage that could provide the economic boost necessary to make operation of the Chateau viable into the next decade.”
The Chateau is considered one of the three great lodges of Oregon.
The Chateau is to open for the season on May 8. For more information phone IVCDO at 592-4440. For reservations phone 592-3400.
