Monday, March 3

*After moving out on her own a week before, a girl, 15, was banging on her mother’s door and wanted money. Her brother pushed her, and she left.

Thursday, March 6

*There was an audible alarm at Wild River Brewing & Pizza Co. at eight past midnight, but no problem was found other than the alarm sounding.

*Although it was reported that three people with bats (baseball bats) were going to use them on someone near Evergreen Elementary School at 16 past midnight, no problem was found.

*A man “trespassed” from a house in CJ wanted a taxi at 12:32 a.m., and he was warned about trespassing at the house.

*Jack Steinhoff, 23, was cited on a charge of speeding on Lakeshore Drive (33 mph in a 20 mph zone) at 7:42 a.m.

*Near milepost 25 of Hwy. 199 at 8:24 a.m., Ray D. Skiles, 70, was cited on a charge of driving 67 mph in a 50 mph zone.

*Stacey F. Grabarz, 39, was cited on a charge of speeding on McMullen Creek Road (52 mph in a 20 mph zone).

*Alexander Martin, 21, and Timothy Camacho, 27, each were cited at Lake Selmac on a charge of boating without personal flotation devices.

*Some sort of fence difficulty was logged from the 28000 block of Hwy. 199.

*Aaron S. Barnhart, 28, was cited on a charge of driving 82 mph in a 55 zone near milepost 20 of Hwy. 199.

*Two men were warned about having open containers of alcoholic beverage on Takilma Road, and one was told to see his probation officer the next day.

*Out Illinois River Road a man was warned for “undertagging” a load of firewood, and told about a warrant.

*The possibility of someone shooting toward residences in the Mona Way area was reported.

*“A sticky situation” involving a couple having problems was checked on Shadowbrook Drive.

*Threatening phone calls were reported on Kirkham Road. The suspect was told to cut it out.

*A belligerent, harassing man was reported in O’Brien.

*A fourth-degree assault case in connection with a juvenile person was being checked in Cave Junction.

*His wife was missing for three hours, said a man in Illinois Valley, and he was worried. However, it was found that he suffers from dementia, and that she had been gone only a few minutes.

*Disorderly conduct was reported behind a CJ business because a man was playing with vents. Then he kicked a truck and was trying to remove items. He was carrying three boxes that contained rocks.

*A woman in rural CJ wanted contact right away because of something that happened the day before, although she said then that she didn’t want contact. When told to quit dialing 911 for nonemergency calls, she became irate, saying she had a gun and would use it before ever calling 911 again.

Friday, March 7

*For a reason known only to them, someone used a public telephone at 21 past midnight at O’Brien Country Store to contact 911, then split.

*Suspects were in mind in connection with trash dumped on Deer Creek Road.

*Brain-dead types were reported in a continuing problem of pounding on the doors and windows at St. Patrick of the Forest rectory in the middle of the night.

*No one, including her parents, wanted to deal with a runaway girl, 13, found in Cave Junction. And no deputy was available to transport her to the Juvenile Justice Center in Grants Pass. And Oregon Dept. of Human Services
didn’t want to pick her up.

*No deputy was available when a silent alarm was noted at the forest service office in CJ. However, no problem was noted.

*A lot of bull was in and out of traffic in the vicinity of Hwy. 199 and Waldo Road.

*Out Illinois River Road a driver was warned for having switched license plates.

*Jeff Hayden, 33, was cited out Illinois River Road on a charge of “illegal firewood.” His companion was warned for having an open container of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle.

*Some sort of “verbal disturbance” was reported by a woman in CJ.

*In the 2600 block of Lakeshore Drive a woman reported hearing a noise like a gunshot. When she got home, she found damage to the driver’s side of her vehicle. The next day she found a strip of duct tape with screws through it on the roadway, with a “Slow Down” written on the tape. A possible suspect denied any involvement.

*Following a traffic stop near milepost 26 of 199, a small amount of marijuana was destroyed. It was not explained how the pot was destroyed.

*Following a call about domestic violence in Cave Junction, the man left for the evening after first refusing to leave because, (paraphrasing) it’s his house too.

*Defective headlights brought warnings to two drivers near milepost 31 of 199.

*Following theft of a car from Piller Place, it was found in Selma, and seemed to be undamaged.

*Illinois River “Forks” State Park was checked at 8:47 p.m., and Rough & Ready Lumber Co. at 10:37 p.m.

*Several drivers were warned about speeding in and around the valley today.

*A security man reported at CJ DQ at 11:44 p.m. that a juvenile person threw a cup at his car and ran off. The guard was advised to not pursue the punk.

Saturday, March 8

*In rural Grants Pass a girl, 17, passed out after boozing it up on Granite Hill and struck her head on something. She was taken to Three Rivers Community Hospital where a .20 blood-alcohol content was found.

*Three loose cows were corralled on Deer Creek Road.

*In Selma, Lisa S. Robbins, 20, was arrested under warrants charging failure to perform the duties of a driver, and a felony charge of probation violation.

*Medical and law enforcement personnel responded to the 27000 block of Hwy. 199 in connection with a call for help involving a woman with behavioral problems.

*Christopher Kujawka, 35, was cited on a charge of driving while suspended (DWS) on Eight Dollar Road.

*Salvatore R. Realmuto, 21, was cited on Illinois River Road on a charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

*There was a disturbance but no crime on Norman Road.

*Assistance was rendered in connection with a woman in O’Brien who couldn’t be contacted by concerned persons.

*In Selma, a man who sounded intoxicated said that the FBI told him to call about being extorted.

*O’Brien Country Store was checked at 8:19 p.m.

*Quite a few motorists were warned about speeding and stuff this day.

*Near milepost 33 of Hwy. 199 at 11:29 p.m. a girl was crying because, she said, she was beaten by other girls at a party. She refused medical aid and was taken to her mom.

*In connection with a report of minors drinking at a party, nine young people were contacted in the 33000 block of Hwy. 199 at 11:51 p.m. Jeremiah J. Mutina, 20, was cited under a warrant charging failure to appear in connection with second-degree criminal mischief.

Sunday, March 9

*No foul play was found after a hunter in the Holland community thought at 1:24 a.m. that his dog, equipped with a transmitter, failed to come home. Then the beast showed up.

*There was a call at 3:09 a.m. from a CJ woman who said that her son touched her knee, waking her up, and that he has wanted sex with her in the past.

*Assistance was rendered in connection with concern that some people on Hwy. 46 couldn’t be contacted.

*In Selma, Marshall B. Elliott, 21, was cited to appear on charges of reckless endangerment and third-degree criminal mischief.

*Following a traffic stop at the top of Hay’s Hill, during which Jason M. Reppert, 31, was cited on a charge of speeding (78 mph in a 55 zone), he was described as “hostile toward law enforcement.”

*At the green bridge on Eight Dollar Road, a woman was warned for endangering a child passenger, and riding an ATV on pavement.

*People tearing down a fence adjacent to Great Cats World Park were complained about. The complainant was to phone again if he feels endangered or harassed.

*Drag-racers were reported at 1:30 p.m. on Schumacher Street.

*Assistance was rendered after a rural CJ woman said she thought that maybe her elderly neighbor was being taken advantage of by some people.

*Juvenile people were reported drinking alcoholic stuff and smoking pot at “Forks” State Park. (What else is new?)

*After a man took his .45 to Jubilee Park he came home and secured it. No reports of shooting were received.

*Several intoxicated juvenile people were said to be assaulting another at “Forks” Park. When a deputy arrived, no such activity was located.

*Three explosions within five minutes brought out residents in the Holland Loop/Dick George Road area at 8:25 p.m., but nothing else was detected.

Monday, March 10

*Following reported trespassing and telephonic harassment, a man was told that he isn’t welcome at a Pine Tree Way residence.

*Matthew S. Atkinson, 16, was cited on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol in Selma. A charge of harassment was to be referred to the district attorney.

*On Krauss Lane a tenant said that his landlord wanted him out quicker than planned, and that he was firing a rifle by the house. But the landlord said he was shooting at varmints.

*There was a problem on Caves Hwy.

*“Forks” State Park was checked at 7 p.m.

*Intentional loud volume from a stereo was reported in the 5000 block of Westside Road at 7:12 p.m.

*After a man ran from a traffic stop on Lone Mountain Road at 10:33 p.m., a gun was found on the ground.

*There was a disturbance on the south side of CJ at 11:01 p.m. Counseling was provided.

Tuesday, March 11

*Tanja Lea Nicholas, 31, was cited on a charge of no operator’s license at 49 past midnight in CJ, and the car she was driving was impounded. It was logged that she said she knew her license had expired, but didn’t renew it because she did not have a car.

*At 6:25 a.m. a woman phoned from Caves Hwy. to say that she needed the United States of America. Asked if she needed police, ambulance or fire she said to send them all, plus the Army.

*Some of the area’s finest citizens cut fuel lines on buses at Headstart and took around $100 worth of gasoline.

*A man was looking “shaggy” and flapping his arms like he was flying while walking. Later he was reported driving in Downtown CJ. He was said to be “possibly intoxicated.”

*In CJ, one girl said that another had slammed her head into a wall.

*Something suspicious was reported at 9:17 p.m. in the 2500 block of Holland Loop, but nothing bad was located.

*Edre Anna Bell, 44, was cited on Takilma Road on a charge of DWS, and her vehicle was impounded.

Wednesday, March 12

*A not-nice man and woman broke into Radio Shack/CJ Video Mart at 1:49 a.m. by breaking glass doors, and stole merchandise.

*A street person was contacted at 3:13 a.m. behind St. Matthias Episcopal Church.

*From Selma came a call from a man who thought that a road improvement was going to block his property.

*Joseph G. Cuberos, 40, was arrested on Pine Cone Drive under two warrants, both charging contempt of court.

*A disruptive person was checked on Caves Hwy.

*In Downtown Kerby, Johanan J. Villamin, 23, was cited on a charge of speeding (72 mph in a 55 zone).

*Reported theft of a 38-year-old car from Garner Road was termed a civil matter.

*Some genius stole a laptop computer valued at $945 from a CJ home, and it is password protected, plus it probably has a tracking system.

*Following some confusing phone calls from Caves Hwy., a woman voluntarily went for mental assistance.

*Damage was estimated at $2,500 because an antique
piano was reported destroyed on Hogue Drive, and $100 worth of window damage also was reported.

*On Old Stage Road a woman said that a man had “lost it,” but there was no crime.

*Jackie L. Cooper, 33, was cited on a charge of DWS at 11:55 p.m. on Caves Hwy.

Thursday, March 13

*A motorist was warned at 40 past midnight at Hwy. 199 and Hanby Lane for speeding and failure to carry his license.

*Another motorist was warned for speeding at five ’til 1 a.m. at 199 and Waldamar Road. Several others also were warned for speeding at various times at various valley locations.

*Others were warned for following too closely, and not displaying registration stickers.

*At 10:12 a.m. a man in a car was warned near milepost 17 of 199 about passing over a median, failure to maintain lane, and driving too fast for conditions.

*During a traffic stop in Grants Pass a deputy used pepper spray on the driver’s “very aggressive pitbull.”

*Medical personnel asked for a deputy in connection with a “mental subject” in O’Brien, but he was canceled en route.

*Close to 2 p.m. a man with red hair and wearing a beanie (and probably other clothing) ran from a traffic stop in Downtown Cave Junction and climbed over a fence to get away. His vehicle was impounded. A report for eluding was pending.

*In rural CJ a guardian reported that his granddaughter, 17, had run away.

*I.V. Fire District personnel came across an intoxicated woman at 8:55 p.m. at Hwy. 46 and Caves Avenue. She was on the ground, screaming and being disorderly. A family member came and took her away.
