Cougar victories -- Wrestlers win at state tournament

Illinois Valley High School had two 1st-place finishers in the 4-A class at the state wrestling tournament Saturday, Feb. 16 at Portland’s Memorial Coliseum: Jesse Swift at 160, and Sam Winter at 135.

Other Cougar placers: Jacob Miller, 3rd at 145; Jerrad Miller, 3rd at 152; Lance Tausaga, 4th at 189; Tim Pope, 6th at 215; Quayde Fisher, 7th at 130 and Chris Culver, 8th at 103. The team placed 4th with 149 points, 20 points behind winner Tillamook. IVHS had more placers at this event than any other past state wrestling competition.
