U.S. Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore) was among dignitaries present for the occasion. Walden (right) and R&R president Link Philippi (left) examine a panel which helps monitor the massive complex. Walden was enthusiastic about the project, which furthers statewide alternative energy goals. The plant will generate steam for electricity and to kiln-dry lumber, burning a 50/50 mixture of mill waste and forest debris (slash) which would otherwise be burned on the ground.
