WHAT NUMBER!? - (From the “There, but for the grace of God, go we” file). In one of those odd and unfortunate situations, the Grants Pass “Daily Courier” printed a telephone number in its Jan. 25 issue for Oregon Health Plan reservations. But the number actually was for a telephone sex outfit. A correction was printed Jan. 30. Typographical errors caused by gremlins happen to all of us in the print media; fortunately not too often.
‘IDIOT SIGHTING’ - (An allegation from the Internet): “My daughter and I went to a fast food take-out window, and I gave the clerk a $5 bill. Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her a quarter. She said, ‘You gave me too much money.’ I said, ‘Yes, I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar bill back.’ She sighed and got the manager, who asked me to repeat my request. I did, and he handed me back the quarter, and said, ‘We’re sorry, but we can’t do that kind of thing.’ The clerk then gave me $1.75 in change: Do not confuse the fast food clerks. ”

LAST WORDS - Can it really be that human innovation and creativity, combined with individual choice, will yield better environmental outcomes than the draconian, self-congratulatory approaches advocated by Al Gore and his Hollywood friends?
