Tom Green
A graveside service for former Cave Junction Mayor Tom Green, who died Dec. 10, 2007, will be held Friday, Feb. 1 beginning at 11 a.m.
The service will be conducted at Laurel Cemetery in Cave Junction, said Illinois Valley Funeral Directors.
George Mason
George A. Mason Jr.
Rural Cave Junction resident George Amos Mason Jr., 74, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008 doing what he loved best, farming, at his Dick George Road address.
A graveside service was held Saturday, Jan. 26 at Laurel Cemetery in Cave Junction. Arrangements were handled by Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
Mr. Mason was born on June 15, 1933 in Salisburg, Pa. to George and Anna May Mason. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1950-1954.
Mr. Mason met Dorothy Conn in 1954, and they were married a short time later. They began their new life together in Buena Park, Calif., where he was a foreman at the General Motors Corp. plant.
In 1962 Mr. Mason, his wife and their four daughters moved to Cave Junction. Subsequently, four more children were added to the family.
Mr. Mason worked at Desaulnier’s Egg Ranch on Dick George Road, and at Kerby Union High School as a custodian. In the mid-1960s he began working in the woods as a logger and continued until his retirement.
Mr. Mason was raised on a farm and continued his farming until his death. He enjoyed raising cattle, fishing with family members, and hunting.
Mr. Mason was known as a loving husband and father.
He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Dorothy, and six children; Vickie Marvin, Ronnie Seibold, Debbie Wyatt, Shellie McDowell, Larry Mason, Thelma Stephenson; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Mason was preceded in death by his sons, George Amos Mason III (who died prior to the move to Cave Junction), Raymond Thomas, and Daymond John Mason.
