Friday, Jan. 18
*Methamphetamine and paraphernalia, plus credit cards and other forms of ID not belonging to those present, were found in a vehicle wrecked on Old Stage Road following the driver’s attempt to elude police through Cave Junction at 12:44 a.m. The male driver fled on foot, and a female passenger was treated and released. A report of felony eluding, reckless driving and endangerment and possession of a controlled substance (PCS) was to follow.
*A bald man with a camera was reportedly seen peering through a window of a Floyd Lane residence last week.
*A window was smashed and some $300 worth of fuel was stolen from a rental van at the north end of Cave Junction.
*Unknown persons damaged a mailbox on Rockydale Road, a man said, resulting in $80 damage.
*On Caves Avenue a woman reported that a gas line was disrupted due to an act of criminal mischief.
*A man complained of having been pushed down and kicked by a group of young men on S. Redwood Hwy. in CJ around 8:30 p.m.
*A Caves Hwy. driver was warned for a defective driver’s side-door. It might have been the one reported earlier that flew open whenever the vehicle turned right.
*Four pickup trucks were reported tearing up and down Deer Creek Road around 11:30 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 19
*Adam Jason Smith, 24, was cited on a charge of speeding (80 in a 55 mph zone) on Redwood Hwy. at Draper Valley Road at 12:18 a.m.
*Charles Lee Greninger, 53, was lodged in Josephine County Jail on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault and strangulation following a reported incident on Schumacher Street.
*Houseguests were thought to have removed a DVD player from a residence on S. Kerby Avenue.
*Schumacher Street residents wanted an intoxicated male warned for his threatening behavior. He was said to be racing around on a dirt-bike without lights. Two persons were contacted and a dog held at gunpoint for a time during the investigation.
Sunday, Jan. 20
*Apparently not much happened, as it was the birthday of Cave Junction resident Bob Rodriguez, and the day before the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.
Monday, Jan. 21
*Unknown persons (except to God) were said to pound on the rectory door at St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church at all hours.
*Two tires were reported slashed on a pickup truck parked at a Shadowbrook Drive residence.
*A Dogwood Lane resident reported theft of a chainsaw from his garage.
*Extra patrol was requested near a Draper Valley Road property were it was thought someone was stealing wood.
*Dennis R. Drain, 56, was cited on a charge of speeding (73 in a 55) at milepost 31 of Redwood Hwy.
Tuesday, Jan. 22
*Parts had been stolen from a rented water trailer left for a time at a Westside Road address.
*Callers said that someone was illegally cutting wood on property in the 8000 block of Takilma Road.
*Neil F. White, 56, was cited on a charge of criminal trespassing in front of the Josephine County Bldg. at 6:08 p.m. He was taken to Grants Pass and released.
*A man reported he discovered his checkbook had been stolen after someone tried to cash one of the checks at a Cave Junction store and an employee refused it.
Wednesday, Jan. 23
*On Reagor Lane a man was found to have suffered a blow to his head. A report regarding first-degree burglary, second-degree assault and second-degree theft was to follow
*Jennifer Hayes, 40, was lodged in Josephine County Jail on a charge of theft.
*Construction equipment and supplies were reported stolen from the new bridge on Redwood Hwy. at Rough & Ready Flats. A tip was received regarding the possible whereabouts of the items.
Thursday, Jan. 24
*What was determined to be a verbal altercation was investigated in the 11000 block of Takilma Road.
*On Holland Loop a woman complained that she saw a live chicken thrown from a teal-green pickup truck. The caller obtained license plate information from the vehicle. The chicken died. Animal Control was notified.
*Larry Dee Headley, 17, of Caves Hwy., was cited on charges of minor in possession of alcohol and third-degree theft.
*Harvey Herbert Peters, 48, was cited on a charge of driving with a suspended license on N. Old Stage Road at 11:15 p.m. His vehicle was impounded.
