Friday, Dec. 28

*Richard William Wagner, 47, was arrested in the 300 block of Caves Hwy. and lodged in Josephine County Jail on a charge of violation of a no-contact order after a cab driver reported that Wagner had been acting strangely.

*Told by her father not to leave their Cave Junction home, a 14-year-old girl did so anyway. Her dad then reported her as a runaway.

*All of his belongings, truck, motorhome and ATV were stolen from a Rockydale Road address while he was incarcerated, a man stated.

*Some $45,000 to $60,000 worth of tools, vehicles and equipment were reported stolen from two rural Cave Junction homes on Redwood Hwy.

*In Kerby a woman reported that the front door to her residence had been kicked in.

*On Takilma Road a caller reported the theft of several collectable swords, a knife and a cell phone.

*In the 300 block of Caves Hwy. a washer and dryer were reported stolen from a recently vacated rental property.

Saturday, Dec. 29

*Around 2 a.m. a combative and intoxicated man with a nasty cut over one eye was transported by American Medical Response to Three Rivers Community Hospital from the 300 block of S. Redwood Hwy.

*Someone hit a parked car and drove away from the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy., a caller reported.

*A subject described as a “military deserter” was taken into custody by an OSP trooper on Caves Hwy. near Caves Avenue at 5 p.m.

*Jeremy J. Sorensen, 24, was cited on a charge of careless driving and warned for failure to carry proof of insurance in the 300 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 8:36 p.m.

*A Draper Valley Road resident said that people were stealing her madrone burls.

*An unconscious bicyclist was found lying in the middle of Rockydale Road near Idlewild Drive at 10:08 p.m. It was not stated why the man was there.

Sunday, Dec. 30

*A handful of drivers were warned for defective license plate lights and other vehicular issues in and around CJ during the midnight hour.

*Thieves cut a chain to gain access to a Deer Creek Road residence, which they ransacked, a caller said.

*Two men burst into her home and a verbal argument ensued, said a S. Junction Avenue resident.

*A S. Junction Avenue resident gave the security company the wrong pass code after an alarm was tripped at the home. A deputy knew her husband to be the home owner, which clarified the situation.

*On N. Boundary Ave. a man was warned against visiting another CJ address.

*Carla Marie Bundy, 30, was cited on a charge of driving while suspended (DWS) and warned for failure to obey a Stop sign on N. Kerby Avenue.

*Vern Allen Cleveland, 66, was cited on a charge of driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII) on N. Old Stage Road around 9:30 p.m.

*Persons thought to be drivers involved in drag racing in the vicinity of Redwood Hwy. and Finch Road around 11 p.m. were contacted and warned about their actions.

Monday, Dec. 31

*Apparently not much happened today.

Tuesday, Jan. 1

*Loud noises were heard at various locations around the valley at midnight, almost as though a new year was being celebrated.

*A dog found running loose in the 25000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 1 a.m. was reunited with its owner.

*Yelling and swearing (words not reported) were heard from an unknown location off McMullen Creek Road at 3:40 a.m.

*A woman was taken from a White Schoolhouse Road residence to “sober up” following a disturbance.

*On Lone Mountain Road a resident complained that a car horn was honking intermittently, as though someone was messing with it. A vehicle was found in a ditch nearby.

*Snowbound motorists and their would-be rescuers were recovered from Upper Deer Creek Road around 10:30 p.m.

*A 47-year-old man, said to be agitated and combative due to medication, was attempting to break into a house in the 30000 block of Redwood Hwy., a caller said. Also, the man apparently had started a small fire, which the home owner extinguished.

Wednesday, Jan. 2

*A man informed the sheriff’s office that he was out recovering his stolen property from suspects. Following a verbal disturbance at one location, he recovered his damaged motorcycle and was on his way, he said, “with baseball bat and brass knuckles,” to talk to someone else.

*In connection with the preceding item, an OSP trooper and a probation officer contacted Steven Thomas Goodell, 42, who subsequently was lodged in county jail on a two-count charge of contempt of court, and a restraining order violation. Information was to be gathered on the location of Goodell’s stolen property.

*A stolen vehicle was recovered from a wrecking yard in the 30000 block of Redwood Hwy.

*Teen-agers near Lake Selmac Resort were thought to be up to no good, as the resort is closed.

*A former tenant was reported making verbal threats in the 30000 block of Redwood Hwy.

*It was claimed that young people were rowdy at Jubilee Park at 5:30 p.m.

*Michael A. Rodriguez, 40, was warned for failure to yield before entering Redwood Hwy. in Downtown CJ at 6:36 p.m. (See, the editor does so put his family in the Blotter.)

*The welfare of an 87-year-old Dick George Road resident was ascertained after her daughter-in-law phoned with concerns.

*Two men were warned for having open containers of alcohol and told to move their drunken selves away from the front of the Josephine County Bldg. in Downtown CJ around 8:30 p.m.

*William Sampley, 60, was cited on a charge of DWS, and lack of insurance during a traffic stop in the 800 block of Caves Hwy.

*An unoccupied vehicle blocking a part of Reeves Creek Road was towed as a hazard at 8:09 p.m.

*Loose change was taken from a vehicle parked at Illinois Valley High School. A window was shattered to enter the car.

Thursday, Jan. 3

*People yelling and slamming doors at a S. Old Stage Road residence around 2 a.m. were disturbing to a complainant.

*Orange, spray-painted graffiti with a character and the words “Juggle for Life” was photographed at Lorna Byrne Middle School shortly past 2 a.m.

*In Kerby a woman complained about what she at first thought were gunshots. Then realizing her neighbors were setting off fireworks, she decided not to complain.

*Deputies responded to a Westside Road location to serve a restraining order and remove a 10-year-old child to his mother’s care.

*Four large pickup trucks were reported four-wheeling in woods near Lurleen Lane off Laurel Road. One truck had apparently been rolled, a deputy discovered, as it was still on scene with substantial damage.

*Two women were warned about their conduct after a verbal argument on Millie Street.

*Jamie Mae Virden, 21, was cited on a charge of DWS on S. Kerby Avenue at 11 p.m.

*Paul Cleveland Cooper, 43, was cited on a warrant from St. Helens, Wash. charging contempt of court. He also was cited on a charge of DWS in the 33000 block of Redwood Hwy.

*Following a brief pursuit to the 5000 block of Westside Road, Jeremy Wade Vineyard, 27, was cited on charges of DUII and DWS. His vehicle was impounded.
