3 Rivers Chorale sets GP, CJ concerts

“Music for the Season of Light” is the theme for the 3 Rivers Chorale holiday concert on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Newman United Methodist Church, 132 N.E. B St. in Grants Pass.
Tickets will be available at the door, and there are prices for general admission, seniors and students.
Immanuel Methodist Church at 200 Watkins St. in Cave Junction also will present the Chorale as part of its Community Concert series on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. A donation will be requested.
Selma resident Carol Valentine is the guest conductor/music director. Kate Campbell is the piano accompanist. Tim Wallace of Oregon Little Big Band will join the choir playing saxophone and percussion on several pieces, including two Hebrew songs and two from Africa.
Additionally, the chorale will perform a 15th century motet, music by Brahms, John Renbourn, a traditional American shape-note carole, an old French carole and more music of the season.
Solos, duets and small ensembles from the choir also are included in the program.
