Monday, Nov. 19
*Some sort of bizarre, confusing situation about a missing pickup truck and its ownership was reported by someone at a Cave Junction service station.
Wednesday, Nov. 21
*Burglary involving a reported $300 in missing cash was reported at a business in the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy. The complainant said that someone used scissors to pry open a cash register.
Friday, Nov. 23
*A vehicle and its man were checked in the 6000 block of Illinois River Road.
*There was a report of a vehicle stolen from the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*No injuries were reported following a “rear-ender” at 5:13 p.m. on Redwood Hwy. near the Oregon/California border.
*A woman said that her boyfriend was missing, as he had dropped her off at work in Cave Junction two days earlier, then disappeared. Later, she got a phone call from him. He told her that he was breaking up with her and moving to Minnesota.
*A woman in Selma was warned about an expired temporary permit. Probably in connection with her car.
*A damaged windshield was reported in a case of criminal mischief in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*Jeremy Justin Beck, 28, was arrested behind a Cave Junction business under a Josephine County warrant charging failure to appear on a charge of third-degree theft. He was among a group of street people contacted after the business owner complained that customers were bothered by a group of “transients.”
*Following a complaint that a parked van was a traffic hazard on Lone Mountain Road, it was gone when a deputy arrived to check.
*Kim Marie Laidlaw, 42, was cited on a charge of failure to carry proof of insurance at Redwood Hwy. and Caves Hwy. She was warned for a defective license plate light, and failure to carry registration.
*In Downtown CJ, Brad B. Blachly, 26, was cited on charges of driving while suspended and driving uninsured. He was warned about possible impoundment (of his vehicle).
*Wayne G. Dingee, 58, was cited and released on a charge of driving under the influence of an intoxicant/alcohol, and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. During the stop in Selma he also was warned for not having a driver license, and failure to maintain lane and to carry proof of insurance.
Saturday, Nov. 24
*There was an alarm from the 5400 block of Deer Creek Road because a contractor had been given a key to the door. But not the alarm code.
*All was secure following an audible alarm from a residence in the 5100 block of Thompson Creek Road.
*Someone believed that they might know the location of a suspect in a burglary in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*Some punk kicked in a door on N. Junction Avenue and removed all the owner’s clothing, a stereo and a wheelbarrow. It was not known if the thief used the wheelbarrow to remove his ill-gotten gains.
*Illinois River “Forks” State Park was patrolled close to 7 p.m.
*The driver of a car was warned about speeding in the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 7:32 p.m.
*A deputy assisted Oregon State Police near milepost 25 of Redwood Hwy. in a situation involving a car that was disabled after the driver managed to hit a deer.
*Five gunshots were reported in the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 8:18 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 25
*At 12:49 a.m. a woman was warned about having a defective rear tail-light.
*On Honeybee Lane a woman reported that her car was stolen. Then she found it down the street. It was OK except for a bent license plate.
*Trespassing was reported after a woman found a tent in her back yard on E. River Street. It appeared to be a child’s tent; no one seemed to be living in it.
*Jubilee Park was patrolled at 6:58 p.m.
*A Cave Junction man was taken for mental health aid after he said that he wants to kill himself, possibly because of a loud fish tank.
*On Deer Creek Road a man was said to be trespassing. The complainant said that he thinks the man is faking car problems so that he can stay on the property.
*On Sauer’s Flat a man was warned about a defective headlight.
*“Forks” Park was checked at 9:45 p.m.
*The location of a 911 hang-up call couldn’t be located in the Holland area.
*Richard E. Jensen, 39, was cited on a charge of no insurance at Redwood Hwy. and Rockydale Road.
*On this day and during other days in this report, several motorists were warned about defective equipment, mainly lights.
Monday, Nov. 26
*The area of Illinois Valley High School was checked at 21 past midnight.
*“Forks” Park was checked at 32 past midnight.
*Ten minutes prior to 1 a.m. the area of Evergreen Elementary School was patrolled.
*At 9:48 a.m., a deputy noted that a “Stop” sign was down at Smith Sawyer and White Schoolhouse roads.
*Vandalism, theft, burglary and criminal mischief were reported at Dee’s Barber Shop. The owner said that she knows who did it.
*An honest woman turned in a digital camera she found at E. River Street and Shadowbrook Drive.
*Damage was estimated at $1,000 by a man whose car, he said, was backed into on a Cave Junction parking lot by an errant soul who boogied without bothering to face the music.
*A girl, 11, was found in possession of marijuana buds at Lorna Byrne Middle School. She was to be suspended from attending school. A report to the county Juvenile Dept. was pending.
*Emily Clare Anawalt, 45, was cited in Cave Junction at 6:37 p.m. for failure to carry proof of insurance and switched license plates; and warned about potential vehicle impoundment.
*It was unknown why a motion detector alarm sounded on Warren Road at 6:45 p.m.
*Three transients were contacted on a vacant lot near Junction Inn after a 7:17 p.m. complaint that they had started a fire there. They were advised to move on; the fire was extinguished.
*What appeared to be an incident of road rage was reported by a man who said that his vehicle was bonked from behind in the 2000 block of Holland Loop by the driver of another vehicle after the complainant pulled alongside because they were moving so slowly he thought that they were having a problem.
*When a Selma resident reported burglary, he suspected his ex-wife. Missing, he said, were money, a cell phone and “lawyer paperwork.” Later, he found the items in his furnace. The missing items didn’t do well.
*Five or six gunshots “from a medium-caliber gun” were reported at 9:13 p.m. in the 700 block of Caves Hwy. How the caller knew the caliber was not noted. A damaged pickup truck, or at least the driver, might have been involved.
*After a woman used a permanent marker to write on someone’s motor vehicle on S. Kerby Avenue, a civil compromise was reached.
*River Valley Mobile Home Park was checked at 10:52 p.m.
*At 10:58 p.m. a woman, apparently in a car, was warned for failure to obey a “Stop” sign in Cave Junction.
*In the 5300 block of Westside Road at 11:24 p.m. a man was concerned about a vehicle with flashing lights. It turned out to be a BLM crew conducting a deer survey.
*Oregon State Police handled a situation on Three Mill Road involving a complaint that a man was shooting his animals around the complainant’s children.
Tuesday, Nov. 27
*Found asleep on a couch inside Dee’s Barber Shop, which apparently had been broken into, Derrick B. Hood, 19, was arrested. He was charged with second-degree burglary.
*A Selma resident who uses a bank in CJ reported that someone in Africa put $625 on his debit card.
*Damage to a car that possibly was caused by a gunshot was reported on Lakeshore Drive.
*No injuries were reported in connection with a 3:02 p.m. single-vehicle crash near 931 Caves Hwy.
*A man was upset at a CJ business because he thought that someone might be trying to steal his clothes.
*Three chainsaws and several possible suspects figured in a report of burglary at Phillips Auto Wrecking.
*Theft of copper pipes, and tires and rims from a trailer, plus damage to the trailer’s power cord, were reported in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*Although a semitruck was not a traffic hazard on Gamay Court, the owner was advised of the city ordinance prohibiting parking a motor truck in front of a residence.
*Jubilee Park was patrolled at 10:31 p.m.
*Three minutes after the Jubilee Park check, “Forks” Park was patrolled.
*In Selma on Redwood Hwy., a man was warned for having a heavy foot on his accelerator.
