I.V. News Holiday Photo Contest Rules
From our weekly issue dated November 28, 2007
Entries will only be accepted with a $1 entry fee (per photo). There is no limit to the amount of entries per person. Numerous entries do not need to be submitted in separate envelopes.
To be considered in the contest all entries must be an original unpublished photo taken by the remitter. In the case of children’s photos with Santa, we will accept the photo purchased by the remitter.
The competition is open to amateurs and professionals.
All entries must be received in the Illinois Valley News office no later than 5 p.m. Thursday, December 20. Photos submitted after that time will not be acknowledged. Illinois Valley News, Taylor’s Country Store, Art’s Red Garter and Siskiyou Community Health Center will not be held responsible for entries mailed but not received by the deadline.
Please include a photo printed on photo quality paper with your name and telephone number printed on the back. Photos may be in black and white or color and must be 5 x 7 OR if using a digital camera, include a print of the photo and a copy of the digital file on a disk (floppy, Zip or CD). No other photo format will be allowed.
Copyright for all photos is retained by the submitter; however, all submitters agree to grant a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to Illinois Valley News.
A panel of judges selected by Illinois Valley News will choose the contest winners. Judges' decisions are final.
Prize winners will be selected based on how well their photos impress the judges. Criteria will include but may not be limited to:
1. captures a memorable moment (or moments) of the holiday season
2. Well-composed, in focus, yada yada
Prizes will be awarded Monday, 12/24/07. Winners will be notified by telephone and winning images will be published in Illinois Valley News Issue Number 41.
Persons employed by Illinois Valley News are lucky to be working at all, let alone wasting valuable time competing for this contest's grand prizes. Employees of Illinois Valley News and their immediate family members (parents, children and Spouses) are not eligible to enter.
Winning and honorable mention photos will be published in the Illinois Valley News issue number 41, 2007.
The first place winner will receive a $30 gift certificate from Taylor’s Country Store.
The Second place winner will receive a $25 gift certificate from Art’s Red Garter Restaurant.
The Third place winner will receive a year’s paid subscription of the Illinois Valley News delivered in Josephine County, Oregon.
All prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not convertible to cash.
All winning entries and any honorable mentions will be published in the contest gallery online at www.illinois-valley-news.com.
