Thursday, Oct. 25
*In the 23000 block of Redwood Hwy. a white Dodge pickup truck was reported stolen at 8 a.m. Reported to be in the vehicle were a wallet, a loaded gun, ammo and a full, five-gallon fuel can. The complainant’s credit card company reported that his card had been used to buy fuel in Wolf Creek.
*On Laurel Road a caller reported a driver who takes a particular curve at “100 mph” twice daily.
*At approximately 9:30 a.m. a woman reported that her keys had been taken from her shopping cart, but they soon turned up.
*Some $1,000 damage to a vehicle at a Selma business was reported, with said vehicular mutilation to be caused by a driver who left without revealing his identity.
*On W. Lister Street a short-term guest had become bothersome and argumentative, and the resident wanted her to leave.
*Thieves made off with prescription drugs, a hunting knife and food from the refrigerator of a residence in the 23000 block of Redwood Hwy., a complainant said.
*In O’Brien, a man attempted to report the abduction of his wife, by Bosnian nationals, to a uniformed guard from the California border “Bug Station,” thinking him a law enforcement officer. The caller stated that the man looked “confused.”
*Yelling threats and profanity, a man who’d been warned about trespassing and disorderly conduct was picketing a CJ service station.
*A verbal disturbance was investigated in the 200 block of N. Redwood Hwy.
Friday, Oct. 26
*A person who identified himself variously as the president of the United States, a member of the Chinese embassy or a man named “Joseph” phoned from a public telephone in the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 2 a.m. He said that he needed military support.
*“I know where you are,” “I have an M-16,” and “I’m coming to kill you,” were the messages for law enforcement from a caller in the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 2:30 a.m.
*A reported stolen vehicle was recovered near Seats Dam off Airport Drive.
*Acting on tips and surveillance flights, numerous marijuana grows were investigated in the valley.
*Entry was gained through a rear window, and a wheelbarrow removed, from a residence in the 36000 block of Redwood Hwy. according to a caller.
*Numerous gunshots were heard around E. River Street and Shadowbrook Drive at 8:21 p.m.
*Deputies were unable to locate a man said to be staggering into traffic in the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 10:22 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 27
*A man phoned 911 to report some hunters he believed were doing their thing from the roadway in the Bear Camp Ridge area.
*Two people were warned for residing on U.S. Forest Service land off Eight Dollar Mountain Road.
*David L. Paulsen, 18, was cited on a charge of speeding (78 in a 55 mph zone) in the 6300 block of Rockydale Road at 5:13 p.m.
*On N. Redwood Hwy. at E. River Street, Shelley R. Hults, 40, was cited on charges of driving while suspended (DWS) and failure to obey a traffic control device. Her passenger, Willard Dale May, 32, was lodge in Josephine County Jail on a warrant from California charging burglary, and a Josephine County warrant charging failure to appear.
*A man and woman were heard arguing as they walked on Redwood Hwy. in Kerby at 11:30 p.m. It appeared that she was upset about not having a ride home.
Sunday, Oct. 28
*Just before 8 a.m. a driver was warned for illegal parking on Eight Dollar Mountain Road.
*Andrew L. Dobner, 25, was cited on charges of expired registration and failure to provide insurance information on Eight Dollar Mountain Road at 8:52 a.m.
*Extra patrolling occurred throughout Illinois Valley.
*A dead deer was removed from Redwood Hwy. in the Sis’s Gap area.
*Teena L. Otis, 29, was cited on a charge of DWS. Her vehicle was impounded.
*A driver was contacted after his vehicle was found with its engine running, unoccupied, unlocked, and with lights on in the 200 block of Watkins Street at 9:10 p.m. Subsequently, Steven L. Fields, 39, was cited on charges of DUII, failure to obey a Stop sign and failure to provide a breath sample.
*Assistance was given to several drivers who struck a large piece of concrete on Redwood Hwy. at Hogue Drive around 8:30 p.m.
