Wednesday, Oct. 10
*Some sort of strange phone call from an unknown woman from an unknown location was reported in Takilma.
*“Employee error” caused an alarm at Dr. Joe’s Pet Hospital.
*Four young people in a car that spun out at Hwy. 199 and Hogue Drive refused medical treatment.
*The girlfriend of a son of a woman in Selma used courtesy checks without permission. The complainant was not going to press charges.
*Theft of a 30-year-old pickup truck was reported on Takilma Road.
*Two vehicles crashed at 6:54 p.m. near the corner of Hwy. 199 and Deer Creek Road. Drivers were identified as Ross Welcome, 47, and Doug Hoskins, 17. Hoskins was cited on a charge of failure to yield the right-of-way. One was transported by American Medical Response, but it was unclear who it was.
*John Gregory Jones, 46, was cited on charges of no operator’s license and driving uninsured. His vehicle was towed.
*Three men on Crickett Lane were counseled about their actions after one said that two others were rattling his gate after they said he was shooting at them.
*A fence was cut at Jubilee Park by local masterminds.
*Alcohol seemed to have influence in a disturbance on Tracy Lane at 10:19 p.m.
*Community Oriented Policing (COP) was conducted at a CJ alcoholic beverage serving site at 11:12 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 11
*At four past midnight a man said that in the 25000 block of Hwy. 199 he was nearly struck head-on by someone driving on the wrong side of the road.
*At five past midnight a deputy found an unoccupied vehicle on Lakeshore Drive.
*No deputy was available to respond to an alarm in the 18000 block of Hwy. 199 at 4:41 a.m.
*A man restrained from a place on Dick George Road showed up, then left.
*What sounded like a shotgun blast was reported on Addison Lane at 2:11 p.m.
*The location of a girl, 16, said to be a runaway person, was known in O’Brien. There was to be an attempt to get her to a safe location because of an alleged rape by her father.
*A mother and daughter had a dispute over money in rural CJ, and the girl left, but the mom was going to work on a reconciliation.
*An erratic driver in a Jeep was reported in the vicinity of Hwy. 199 and Illinois River Road at 8:19 p.m.
*A security check was conducted at O’Brien Country Store at 11:18 p.m. And St. Patrick Church was checked at 11:31 p.m., as was Lake Selmac Resort and Lake Selmac generally at 11:40.
Saturday, Oct. 13
*Following a complaint at 12:16 a.m. in O’Brien of someone cooking meth, it was believed to be burning plastic.
*A commotion with cursing, and a man saying, “I didn’t mean to harm you or hit you,” occurred at 58 past midnight on Rockydale Road. It turned out to be a situation in which a woman didn’t want a man to drive away because he had been drinking.
*While a man was hunting in rural Grants Pass, someone stole his gas can.
*No problems were reported at I.V. Family Resource Center following an alarm at 5:51 p.m.
*Illinois River “Forks” State Park was the recipient of COP at 6:44 p.m.
*Timothy Roy Wilcox, 25, was arrested in Cave Junction on charge of restraining order violation, and probation violation.
*For some reason, a 911 hang-up call came from a wedding reception in the 23000 block of Hwy. 199. All was OK.
*Christine A. Griggs, 45, was cited in CJ at 9:24 p.m. under a warrant charging contempt of court.
*Paul W. Landfried, 51, was cited in CJ at 9:24 p.m. on charges of first-degree driving while suspended (DWS), and switched license plates. A small quantity of marijuana was destroyed at the scene. His vehicle was impounded.
*From Westside Road came a complaint of someone who keeps firing a gun. Subsequently, Thomas Wayne Snider, 38, was arrested under a Medford Police Dept. warrant charging probation violation in connection with second-degree possession of a controlled substance.
*After a 911 hang-up call from Waldo Road at 10:46 p.m. it was found that there had been a flue fire that had been extinguished. The caller refused a response from Illinois Valley firefighters.
*Amon Ra Griffin, 16, described as “highly intoxicated,” was arrested on a charge of probation violation and taken to the Juvenile Justice Center in Grants Pass at 11:39 p.m. He was contacted at a Cave Junction bar.
*Two people were reported yelling, screaming and pushing each other on Lister Street at 11:41 p.m. Paul Daniel Pittman Jr., 39, was arrested on a charge of probation violation.
Sunday, Oct. 14
*Lots of flashlights at a former meth lab in Selma prompted a complaint at eight past midnight.
*At the south end of Cave Junction at 3:25 a.m. a woman was heard yelling, “You’re not going to hit me anymore!” Then all was calm.
*No units were available when an alarm sounded in the 1000 block of Happy Camp Road.
*The driver of a pickup truck from Nevada crashed into a tree and brush off Hwy. 199 at Sis’s Gap.
*It was determined that a motion alarm, which activated five times in the 8000 block of Deer Creek Road, was caused by a large moth.
*A boy, 8, was “beyond parental control” in Cave Junction at 3:25 p.m. No deputy was available, and OSP declined to respond. The boy hit a pregnant woman with a plunger, and yelled and screamed while “tearing up the house.” He finally took his meds, and was going to see a therapist.
*A boy, 13, was “beyond parental control” in CJ at 3:37 p.m. At one point it was reported that the boy had a woman on the ground and she tore his shirt off while getting up. The situation was handled via telephone.
*Michael A. Bergman, 18, was cited at 7:09 p.m. in the 1000 block of Hwy. 46 on a charge of driving without insurance. He was warned about unsafe passing, expired registration, and the tow ordinances.
*COP was conducted at Jubilee Park at 8:27 p.m.
*Today and during other days in this report, a number of drivers were warned about defective equipment, mostly lights that were not working.
*COP was conducted at Lorna Byrne Middle School and Evergreen Elementary School at 9:23 and 9:30 p.m.
*Michael C. Fuentes, 19, was cited at 9:43 p.m. on Rockydale Road on charges of driving uninsured and driving while suspended. A charge of possession of a destructive device was referred to the D.A. His vehicle (Fuentes’) was impounded.
*“Cooking meth” was reported in Selma. OSP was to be contacted, and probably DEQ too.
*There was a call at 11:31 p.m. from the 900 block of Hwy. 46 regarding a car with several purses and cell phones in it. The registered owner was phoned. He said he sold the car, but didn’t remember to whom.
Monday, Oct. 15
*In conducting a welfare check in O’Brien concerning a woman who reported being raped, officers eventually found that she had moved to California and “was OK except for my overly protective mother.”
*At five past midnight, a man was warned about something outside a Cave Junction drinking place.
*At 11 past midnight, Timothy Q. Guillory was cited on a charge of driving without insurance and an operator’s license on W. Lister Street. He was warned about switched license plates and failing to signal. Then his vehicle was impounded.
*There was a 1:06 a.m. traffic stop in CJ during which a man was warned about speeding, failing to carry insurance, and improper display (of what, was not stated).
*Two other drivers in CJ also were stopped in the early a.m. and warned about defective equipment.
*Two men were contacted at Hwy. 199 and Laurel Road at 15 past midnight in connection with cleverly relocating orange traffic cones.
*Lorna Byrne Middle School went into “lockdown” after a report that a man was firing a rifle behind Jubilee Park, a short distance south of the school. Neither man nor gun were located.
*For the second time, some fool pried open a storage unit at the model airplane-flying site near Kerby Transfer Station and stole gasoline.
*When a man got home on E. River Street at 8:37 p.m., he said, two men he didn’t know were there. They asked him, “Where are you hiding it?” They left, and were not located.
*For some reason a BLM gate was checked in the 31000 block of Hwy. 199.
*Following a 911 hang-up call, it was reported that a baby playing with a telephone was responsible. The mother said it was the second time.
*Several bags of trash were found, said a hunter, in the Dick George Road/Greenview Drive area. The hunter said he found mail in the rubbish that could identify the dumper.
*School officials were to check into a report from a Phoenix mother who said that someone threw a glass of water on her daughter, and then “jumped” her and beat her.
*A rural CJ resident said that her bipolar husband was upset about dogs and stabbed one of her hands with scissors. She was phoning from another state.
*Speed resulted in a warning to a man at Hwy. 199 and Waldo Road at 7:56 p.m.
*Near milepost 25 of Hwy. 199, a man was warned about defective tail lights.
*Extra patrol was conducted at I.V. High School close to 9 p.m.
*At 10:14 p.m. a deputy was flagged down near a CJ business, as someone thought that there was a suspicious vehicle nearby. Nothing bad nor weird was located.
*Area security checks were conducted at Ray’s Food Place in Selma, and Rough & Ready Lumber Co. five minutes apart.
*Some genius took gasoline from a U-Haul truck in Cave Junction.
*Illinois River “Forks” State Park was checked at 10:05 p.m. And 11:46.
*Security checks were conducted at Almost Heaven and O’Brien General Store at 10:33 and 10:38 p.m. And Joe’s Market at 11:05. And Holland Store at 11:21.
