CHAMBER CATS - Great Cats World Park at the south end of Cave Junction will host a mixer for Illinois Valley Chamber of Commerce Friday, Sept. 7. It will run from 5 to 8 p.m. offering “up close and personal” photo opportunities. Invitations have been extended by the I.V. Chamber to the Grants Pass and Crescent City, Calif. chambers. Refreshments will be served.
DR. JOE’S SHOW - An open house will be held Saturday, Sept. 8 at Dr. Joe’s Pet Hospital from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visitors will see the new addition, and there will be a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds will go to “Help Save the Animals.” Dr. Joe’s is at the southwest corner of Caves Hwy. and Old Stage Road across from Siskiyou Market.
CHATEAU COURSE - Wednesday, Sept. 12 is set for a special eight-course dinner at Oregon Caves Chateau highlighting the wines and food available in Illinois Valley. The repast in the dining room of the historic Chateau at Oregon Caves National Monument, 22 miles east of Cave Junction, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Valley vintners will comment on the interaction of the flavors with each course. Reservations can be made at $55 per person. Those who wish to spend the night will receive a $20 room discount. Reservations are required and can be made by phoning 592-3400.
SELMA HAPPENING - An open mic event with healthy organic food is offered from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at Selma Center. Involved are ‘Echoes of the Siskiyous’ open mic time, and the Dessert First Coffeehouse.
SMART ART - An art auction and sale, plus wine and cheese tasting, are offered at Bridgeview Winery on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 3 to 6 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the SMART (Start Making A Reader Today) program at Evergreen Elementary School. There will be live music. See the ad in this issue.
GOOD GRIEF RELIEF - Good Grief, a six-week peer support group for children who have experienced the death of someone important in their lives, is offered by Lovejoy Hospice on Tuesdays from Sept. 18 to Oct. 23 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required by phoning 474-1193.
SING FLING - Auditions for the 3 Rivers Chorale will be held on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living at the corner of S.W. I and Pine streets in Grants Pass. Rehearsals will be at the same location on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Carol Valentine, formerly of the One Love Spirit Choir will be the guest conductor/music director for the fall session.
