Friday, Aug. 24
*Just after midnight, a caller reported, a man and woman were heard yelling at one another in Downtown Cave Junction.
*While investigating an earlier disturbance call, a deputy heard what sounded like gunshots. He described them as “increasing” and “mobile, moving around town.”
*Near a business on Caves Avenue a man was seen smashing fluorescent lights at 20 minutes past midnight. With deputies close at hand investigating gunshots, it was determined in no time at all that the light bulbs had come from a refuse pile nearby. Three men were contacted near Jubilee Park, but not detained.
*At 3:40 a.m. a man in the 29000 block of Redwood Hwy. reported hearing gunshots. After admitting that he didn’t believe the shots were fired at his residence, he was upset when advised that he lived in a “low protection area,” and hung up.
*Recontacted after disconnecting with a call-taker, a man complaining of gunshots said tht family members had found a man in a white pickup truck parked on their road, who moved on when asked to do so. He no longer believed he’d heard gunshots.
*After causing more that $750 damage to a metal door at the Southern Oregon Sanitation Kerby Transfer Station, idiot vandals made off with some candy and a .BB pistol.
*No reasons were found for alarms which sounded at Goodwill on N. Redwood Hwy. and the Cave Junction Post Office around quarter after 7 p.m.
*Dancing around the fuel pumps at Selma 76 and waving his arms was a man whose behavior prompted a concerned call to 911 at 8:28 p.m. The man and his bicycle moved on when a deputy contacted him.
*A bicyclist wearing dark clothing was darn near struck by a motorist around 9 p.m. on Holland Loop, a caller said.
Saturday, Aug. 25
*A 30-odd-year-old woman had been brought to the Illinois Valley Substation by a CJ Citizens Patrol volunteer. She stated that she’d been assaulted, but declined to provide further information or accept medical assistance. She did accept a ride to a Caves Hwy. location.
*Concerned for his safety, friends sought assistance in removing an elderly man from his June Drive home.
*Four people were following him, a CJ man reported, and one of them was armed with a pistol.
Sunday, Aug. 26
*Seven days of “nonstop partying” and vehicular shenanigans at a residence off Barlow Road were complained about at 11:27 p.m.
*License plates were seized from a vehicle to which they did not belong, and the driver, contacted at Seats Dam, was warned for illegal display and lack of insurance on the vehicle.
*Taken into custody at the green bridge on Eight Dollar Mountain Road was Bruce Sam Ridenour, 20, who was cited on Del Norte County warrants charging felony and misdemeanor probation violation. A charge of manufacturing a controlled substance (PCS): marijuana, was referred to the Josephine County District Attorney’s office.
*Robert A. Hurt was cited for failure to renew his vehicle registration and warned against speeding on Caves Hwy. at 8:21 p.m.
*Two persons were advised of hours at Illinois River “Forks” State Park and moved on at 8:38 p.m.
*Richard William Peterson, 38; and Kayla Renee Sarmento, 19, each were cited on charges on violation of the basic rule (driving too fast for conditions), when contacted at milepost 26 on Hwy. 199.
*Leo Francis Serroni, 23, was cited on charges of DUII and driving with a suspended license (DWS) in the 200 block of Caves Hwy. just before midnight.
Monday, Aug. 27
*On Holland Loop a woman reported receiving four obscene telephone calls.
*Damage was done to a fence on Takilma Road by a driver who didn’t leave any contact information, a woman said.
*A caller said that transients were camped on her property in the 7000 block of Deer Creek Road.
*An intoxicated woman was behaving in a disorderly way and had threatened to kick a dog, a Kerby man stated.
*An “extensive list” of items was reported stolen from a Draper Valley Road residence.
*On Hogue Drive a resident said that her neighbors had run a cord and were stealing electricity from her. A report for theft of services was taken.
*Kevin Michael Jennings, 28, was cited on charges of DWS on Illinois River Road at 6:30 p.m. He and his passenger, Sundi S. Flansburg, 37, each were cited on open container charges.
*Brothers 11 and 15 were reported as runaway persons.
*Yelling and cursing, an intoxicated man on a bicycle was contacted in the 200 block of Caves Hwy. and asked to behave.
*Robert James Harrison was cited on a Grants Pass warrant charging second-degree criminal mischief.
*Michael C. Hammond, 40, was cited on a Coos County warrant charging failure to appear (FTA) on an original charge of attempted second-degree assault.
*Sounds of a scuffle and a woman saying, “Come help me,” were heard before a call from O’Brien was disconnected at 11:30 p.m. Recontacted, a woman said that she’d been struck in the face, and that her wrist could be broken, but she declined medical aid.
Tuesday, Aug. 28
*Troy Patrick Gilmore, 44, was taken to Josephine County Jail on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault.
*Theft of a set of silverware valued at $2,800 from a Kirkham Road residence was reported to have occurred last Christmas.
*A red Nissan pickup truck was reported stolen from the parking lot at the CJ Post Office where it had been parked overnight.
*E-mailed threats continued to come from her daughter’s 16-year-old ex-boyfriend, a woman sd.
*Extra patrol seemed warranted on Lurline Lane, where under-aged gatherings and/or illegal dumping may be occurring, a deputy reported.
