Thursday, Aug. 9
*Some five or six youngsters on bicycles were “being loud” behind Lorna Byrne Middle School at 12:59 a.m.
*Although she felt she’d been “set up,” a Selma woman was told that her soon-to-be-ex-husband did not actually break the law when he stood her up at a restaurant where they’d agreed to meet so that he could retrieve his boat and other belongings from the house. She was advised of her options.
*Waving an empty water jug, an incoherent vagrant reportedly threatened a man in Downtown Cave Junction around 1:30 p.m.
*Youngsters on W. Lister Street at N. Kerby Avenue were said to be throwing their bicycles in front of passing cars to get them to swerve. The kids evaded contact with a deputy.
*In Selma, a woman said that she and her son were being harassed and threatened physically by some others regarding the matter of her son’s arrest. The offending parties were warned about their behavior.
*On Westside Road in the 5000 block, an unmuffled generator left to run all night provoked a complaint against a neighbor at 11:42 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 10
*What sounded like drag-racing vehicles was heard in Downtown CJ around 2 a.m.
*A yellow Toyota pickup truck with a black camper shell was reported stolen from a S. Junction Avenue residence overnight.
*A dirt bike valued at $9,000 was among several items reported stolen from a residence in the 29000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*Fencing material valued at $1,200 was reported missing from the 1000 block of Deer Creek Road.
*An elderly woman “apologized profusely” after inadvertently phoning 911 at 12:53 p.m.
*Damage to a lighted gazebo at Cups -N- Cones was reported for “venting” and informational purposes.
*A number of vagrants reported hanging out near Watkins Street were told to move on.
*Brandon William Sells, 19, was cited on charges of failure to carry proof of insurance, and lack of an operator’s permit. He was warned for having switched plates on his vehicle and failure to leave his name at the scene of an accident with property damage. Also, the city CJ Public Works Dept. was notified of a Stop sign run down at Laurel Road and E. River Street.
*A 38-year-old man was taken to his parents’ house after refusing to leave a Selma convenience store where he seemed to be intoxicated.
Saturday, Aug. 11
*The driver of a vehicle that had been traveling at high speed fled from near Illinois River “Forks” State Park after a deputy stopped it. The passenger, an 18-year-old woman who had reportedly been drinking, was taken to her parents’ house and warned about her behavior.
*A Lifeline caller in CJ said that she heard people walking around outside her trailer. Nothing but animals were found moving around in her park at 2:39 a.m.
*A white Saturn was reported stolen from near the Illinois Valley High School track at 2:30 a.m.
*Having suffered a broken jaw from a reported assault, Justin Tyme Stafford, 28, was transported to Three Rivers Community Hospital from an Eight Dollar Mountain Road residence. He also was cited on a warrant charging failure to appear on a charge of driving while suspended.
*Threatening messages regarding a gun were found inside a Selma man’s residence when he returned home, he said.
*A 43-year-old man fled on foot from a Hussey Avenue location when he was notified that he was under arrest at 10:37 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 12
*Although yelling and some sort of disturbance were heard around 1:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Caves Hwy. nothing amiss could be located at nearby residences.
*At quarter to 2 a.m. a gray-haired man seen lying on the fogline on Redwood Hwy. in Illinois Valley waved on a passerby and could not be located later by a deputy.
*Several persons were said to be causing trouble and dumping trash at Ring Beach campground out Illinois River Road.
*A man who’d come to move her belongings to a storage unit became angry and broke everything, a woman on Waldo Road said.
*Fellow motorists drinking beer threw a bottle at her car while on Sauer’s Flat, a woman complained.
*Following a disturbance on Schumacher Street, two men came to an agreement and chose not to pursue charges.
*Approximately 20 people, mostly young men, were wandering up and down the streets of Cave Junction throwing rocks. Some may have had golf clubs, a caller said.
*Another caller said that those loitering around Downtown CJ around 10 p.m. had bats and appeared to be looking for someone.
*A caller said that she and her friends had been shot at by persons in a white pickup truck which was then reported southbound from the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 10:47 p.m. Many other people were apparently involved in some sort of “mutual thing.”
Monday, Aug. 13
*A stolen blue Ford was found near Lake Selmac.
*An ID card found at Six Mile Campground was turned in.
*On Schumacher Street several vehicles full of teenagers were doing burnouts and racing down the street, a caller complained.
*A driver backed his vehicle into an Oregon Dept. of Forestry tanker, damaging it not at all while inflicting some heavy damage to his own rig. He then fled the scene, it was reported.
*An alarm was heard at the Cave Junction Branch Library at 12:26 p.m.
*On Lakeshore Drive an intoxicated man was attempting to break through a gate at 8:51 p.m..
Tuesday, Aug. 14
*Theft of solar yard lights was reported by an Ollis Road resident.
*It was claimed that a tenant was becoming verbally abusive and throwing things at a valley trailer park. Both parties later came to an agreement that the tenant would take care of removing her trailer.
*Theft of an ornate glass hookah was reported in Downtown CJ around 12:30 p.m. The thieves abandoned the pipe, and it soon was returned by thoughtful persons.
*Gunshots, at least 40, were heard before the shooter stopped to reload and resume on Reeves Creek Road around noon.
*A man in the 29000 block of Redwood Hwy. said that a weapon was discharged as a gold-colored car and motorcycle drove past his residence.
Wednesday, Aug. 15
*A suitcase full of personal papers was reported stolen from a N. Junction Avenue residence.
*On Schumacher Street a man said that friends sold a truck, which didn’t belong to him, without permission.
*A caller reported seeing the driver of a maroon SUV driving around Jubilee Park “looking at little girls.”
*Upset due to money owed for a tow, a woman was yelling and cursing in the business in the 30000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*Deputies responded to a reported dispute regarding people who may or may not have been allowed to stay on a Takilma Road property at 7 p.m.
*Around 8:30 p.m. a man was yelling at his neighbor in the 9000 block of Takilma Road that he was going to “burn the place down.” Officers responded to the scene; and not for the first time.
