Wednesday, July 25
*On S. Sawyer Avenue a squatter was given 24 hours to leave the vacant lot on which he was camped.
Thursday, July 26
*Around 12:30 a.m. a patrol unit swept through Lake Selmac recreation area.
*Just before 1 a.m. a deputy was conducting patrol in Downtown Cave Junction. He contacted two boys who ratted out a third, said to be a thrower of apples and rocks (no damage was noted at the time). They were warned regarding curfew.
*In the 9000 block of Takilma Road a woman said that a man wearing a “phony-looking” badge and driving a white, unmarked police car served her with legal papers. The man later was contacted by Sheriff Gil Gilbertson and advised regarding his actions.
*Following a traffic stop near milepost 26 on Redwood Hwy., John Cole Beairsto, 20, was arrested on a charges of manufacture, delivery and possession of a controlled substance after marijuana, said to total some 51 grams, was discovered during a consent search of his vehicle.
*After causing disruption during a concert at Jubilee Park, Aaron Lee Clouser, 33, was lodged in Josephine County Jail in Grants Pass on a statewide felony warrant charging parole violation. He also was “trespassed” from the park for the remainder of his probation.
*A concerned caller reported a man in a green T-shirt in the fetal position lying too close to the roadway on Rockydale Road at 8:41 p.m. The man was transported to Takilma and turned over to family members.
Friday, July 27
*Hooligans with great futures smashed a window at Illinois Valley Visitor Center overnight, causing approximately $300 damage.
*In the 200 block of Caves Avenue, three defenseless mail boxes were beaten into uselessness.
*Around 6:30 p.m., a deputy went for a foot patrol stroll on the south side of Lake Selmac. All was reportedly “Code 4.”
*A group of people loitering near St. Mathias Episcopal Church were contacted and dispersed around 10 p.m.
*Brian Paul Shaw, 33, was arrested on charges of fourth-degree domestic assault, strangulation and menacing after law enforcement responded to his McMullen Creek Road residence on reports of a disturbance.
Saturday, July 28
*The driver of a vehicle contacted in the 300 block of Caves Hwy. at 12:49 a.m. fled, leaving passengers Robert Alan Warden, and Tiffany Ann Garland, both 16, to each be cited on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol. Both admitted to having been drinking beer and vodka. They were turned over to their parents.
*Antionette Latasha Alverson, 27, was cited on charges of driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII), driving with a suspended license, driving uninsured, and violation of the open container law. Her vehicle was impounded.
*A black Toyota pickup truck was reported stolen from the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*David Brian Andrews, 25, was cited on a charge of discharging a firearm on or across a waterway near Josephine Creek campground.
*Following a truck-into-tree collision on Deer Creek Road at 7:30 p.m., the reportedly DUII driver, who had sustained multiple abrasions, was seen walking away from the vehicle, refusing assistance. He could not be located.
*Crystal Nicole King, 26, was cited on charges of speeding (74 in a 55 mph zone), and driving uninsured on Redwood Hwy. in Selma at 9:30 p.m.
*The owner of a pickup truck involved in a crash in Selma earlier presented himself at Three Rivers Community Hospital (TRCH) at 11:30 p.m. suffering injuries he said occurred when he “fell off a rock.”
Sunday, July 29
*On W. Stevenson Street a woman said at 3:30 a.m. that her husband had been verbally abusive; refused to allow her to leave; and disconnected the fuel line on her car after an argument. He left the residence prior to an officer’s arrival.
*Following observation of a naked woman running on Illinois River Road at 3:38 a.m., a 22-year-old person (apparently the Lady Godiva-like person reported) was taken to TRCH on a peace officer’s mental hold.
*A woman sought treatment at TRCH after a supposed DUII driver ran over her, she claimed, near the Eight Dollar Mountain Road green bridge over Illinois River and apparently blithely drove away.
Monday, July 30
*Aerial fireworks were reported in the 5500 block of Westside Road at 12:14 a.m., but all was quiet and clear when a deputy responded.
*Equipment valued at $1,500 was reported damaged at the site of bridge construction on Holland Loop. Someone in a 4x4 pickup truck became entangled while driving in the creek bed Saturday afternoon. A neighbor provided photographs of the event.
*In a cold burglary case, a refrigerator was reported stolen from a residence on Gamay Drive.
*A Holland Loop resident reported that a white Toyota pickup truck with new tires and a roll bar was stolen.
*In O’Brien a man reportedly told a woman that if her dog didn't stop barking he was going to shoot it. She wanted it documented that the man had been harassing her pet.
*Bruce Throne Capelle, 57, was lodged in Josephine County Jail on a felony charge of fourth-degree domestic assault.
Tuesday, July 31
*An elderly woman was seen at 9:20 a.m. depositing household garbage in a dumpster outside a business.
*Several intoxicated vagrants were being disorderly near Immanuel United Methodist Church, a woman complained. She said that one of the bunch ran after her vehicle, yelling for a ride. He didn’t get it.
