IRON HORSE COURSE - A thundering herd (of motorcycles) will converge at Lake Selmac for the 15th annual Iron Horse Bike Rally. The gathering will be held Friday through Sunday, June 22 through 24. The public can attend, and there is a special coupon in this issue.
AVALANCHE RANCH BRANCH - Community Bible Church in Cave Junction is sponsoring Avalanche Ranch Vacation Bible School offering “a wild ride through God’s Word.” The program, for children age 3 through fifth-grade, will be conducted Monday through Friday, June 25 through 29. HIGH SCHOOLER DRIVING - Scholarships are available for a high school driver training course at I.V. High School; registration deadline is Wednesday, June 27. The training, sponsored by Rogue Community College, will run from July 9 through 24 from 9 a.m. to noon daily. The course is available for a discounted tuition of $217 for current high school or GED students under 18 who have a learner’s permit, but not a driver’s license. A $100 refund on tuition is possible for those who successfully complete the course. RCC also will offer a free two-hour class, “Partnering With Parents & Guardians for Safe Driving,” on July 9 from 9 to 11 a.m. The courses are made possible through the IVHS 21st Century Grant Program. CRUISIN’ TIME - Cave Junction Lions Club will hold a rollin’ steel cruise with a dance and barbecue Friday, June 29 as a prelude to its annual Antique & Classic Car Show on Saturday, June 30. The June 29 events will be on the Sterling Savings Bank parking lot in Downtown CJ with live music by “Jump Start.” The car show, including a breakfast and lunch, will be held at Jubilee Park. REUNIONMANIA - Alumni of Illinois Valley High School and Kerby Union High School will descend on Cave Junction for Reunion ‘07. The annual get-together is set for Friday, June 29 through Sunday, July 1 with numerous events. This year’s program is for the classes of 1952, ‘57, ‘62, ‘67, ‘72, ‘77, ‘82, ‘87, ‘92 and ‘97. Events will include “Hold ‘Em (Texas) or Fold ‘Em” play June 29, sponsored as a fund-raiser by the IVHS Wrestling Club. Phone 597-2325 for details. SPECIAL FRIEND BLEND - Coalition for Kids is looking for volunteers willing to spend 45 minutes a week with a child who will be their special friend at Evergreen Elementary School in Cave Junction.
