Tuesday, June 5

*Subsequent to being cited on a charge of first-degree theft, the suspect phoned the victim and apologized, then said she was going to kill herself. Her residence was checked, but she wasn’t found.

Wednesday, June 6

*The telephone company was notified of wires hanging low near Rough & Ready Lumber Co. on Redwood Hwy. after the driver of a pickup truck left the roadway just before 7 a.m., shearing off a utility pole and smashing into a lumber storage shed.

*On S. Junction Avenue a woman complained that former friends were harassing her by throwing manure on her house and damaging her mailbox.

*A “local character” known for running through Downtown Cave Junction was said by a caller to be “wound up” around 9 p.m. The caller was concerned for the welfare of the character.

*In Downtown CJ a woman wanted it documented that a pickup truck “slammed into the rear of her parked vehicle” in a low-speed crash.

*A woman said that she was the victim of a hit-and-run crash on a Selma parking lot.

*Two people in a single-vehicle rollover “self-extricated” in the 2000 block of Thompson Creek Road at 3:04 p.m.

*Although his vehicle was taken without permission, a Terrace Heights Drive resident didn’t want to press charges.

*Someone was lying on Redwood Hwy. in the 27000 block with a noose around his neck. He ran off and couldn’t be located at 7:34 p.m.

*At the south end of Downtown CJ, a “local character” was said to be running in and out of traffic at 9:18 p.m.

Thursday, June 7

*By swerving to avoid hitting a dog, a motorist struck a vehicle parked alongside the roadway in Kerby at 5:24 a.m.

*A woman on Fir Drive was seen taking items from a mailbox she insists belongs to her, a complainant said.

*The driver of an older, yellow station wagon was said to have driven away after striking a school bus on Redwood Hwy. in Kerby. No injuries were reported among the students on the bus.

*Contacted in Kerby as a result of a noise complaint, Melissa Lowenstein, 40, was cited on two warrants charging parole violation.

Friday, June 8

*Four persons were contacted at Illinois River “Forks” State Park at 1:47 a.m. and reminded of park hours.

*Told to move on, although refusing to do so, two people were given seven hours to leave an Illinois Valley RV park.

*It was reported that a man approached a woman’s boyfriend at a school and told him that he should be afraid.

*A welfare check requested on the south side of CJ determined that a man was OK.

*No one was around a car on its side near Redwood Hwy. and Finch Road at 6:52 p.m.

*Burglary reported in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. included a woman stepping on glass and getting cut.

*A man evicted from an RV park was said to be driving at high speed.

Saturday, June 9

*A rural CJ boy, 17, was taken to Three Rivers Community Hospital on a peace officer’s mental hold after becoming “out of control,” yelling and chasing his mother, and striking a vehicle with a chunk of wood at 6:17 a.m.

*American Medical Response (AMR) assisted a man lying on the sidewalk in the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 10:24 a.m. He takes cough syrup, it was noted.

*A large, dark-colored pickup truck with a white stripe was observed at 3:30 a.m. in connection with road signs down on Hanby Lane.

*A Pine Cone Drive resident said that a man had threatened to burn her house.

*On N. Hussey Avenue at 11:23 p.m., a woman complained of having been hit by her boyfriend. An assault report was referred to the D.A.

*Patricia A. Halverson, 53, was cited on charges of parole violation on original charges of criminal mischief.

Sunday, June 10

*A “very bad” fight between family members was reported at 12:58 a.m. on
Shadowbrook Drive.

*Four young persons were reported running around Downtown CJ breaking small trees and throwing them onto the roadway.

*Clay W. Clark, 25, was cited on a charge of failure to comply with a traffic control device on Caves Hwy. at Laurel Road at 2:04 a.m.

*On Barlow Street, a couple was breaking up, and she wanted the man removed.

*A deputy aided AMR in connection with a woman on Holland Loop who was depressed and seemed to be contemplating hurting herself.

Monday, June 11

*William Hottle, 63. and Carmen Hottle, 53, each were arrested in Downtown Grants Pass and charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, first-degree theft, first-degree criminal mischief, and third-degree assault.

*Theft of equipment from a construction site across from the new Siskiyou Community Health Center was reported.

*Superior intelligence was shown by someone in a pickup truck who “did donuts” on a newly graveled parking lot in Selma.

*No complaint was filed by a father in Selma who was struck by his young daughter who “went off” and hit him with a piece of pipe. The mother also was attacked.

*From Westside Road came a complaint that a girl, 17, had run away and might be at a nearby address.

*Some sort of situation was reported from Kerby involving five adults, a young girl and possibly obscene comments.

Tuesday, June 12

*A possible prowler was reported at 3:20 a.m. on Draper Valley Road. No deputies were available. The caller was unhappy.

*Civil arrangements were made after a vehicle rolled into something on S. Junction Avenue.

*Based on a citizen’s complaint, an elderly man in Downtown CJ was warned about following too closely and not staying in his own lane of traffic.

*A mother on Westside Road said that her runaway daughter had returned.

*Possibly “a misunderstanding,” there was a situation at Lake Selmac in which a woman spoke to a child about taking a boat ride.

*On Redwood Hwy. in Selma, Yolanda Hart, 25, was cited on a charge of speeding.

*After a report that she had “taken out” several road markers and signs on Redwood Hwy. between Kerby and Selma, a driver, 83, was contacted.

*No injuries were reported in connection with a crash in the 19000 block of Redwood Hwy. in Selma. Drivers were identified as Edmund Hardy, 45; and Hsiang-Yao Vasquez, 49.

*Following an alarm at Bridgeview Community Church at 4:38 p.m., a rear door was found to be not completely closed.

*No crime was detected in Selma after a report that an intoxicated man with a hand saw in his hands was threatening everyone.

*In Jubilee Park, a woman with purple shorts pulled them down and urinated next to the playground by some children. She then ran into the complainant and went into some trees.

*Some fool phoned and kept saying, “You need to spend that $12 million.”

*After a request for a welfare check on Takilma Road, a woman was found to be doing OK.
