Lois J. Keller

Former Selma resident Lois Jane Keller, 82, of Grants Pass, died Friday, May 11, 2007 at an adult foster care home in Grants Pass.

Mrs. Keller was born on May 18, 1924 in Davenport, Iowa to George and Stella Kalman.  On April 2, 1948 she married Nick John Keller, who died during 2002. In the late 1940s they moved to Selma, where they raised their two children.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 485, Bardwell, Ky. She enjoyed oil painting, quilting, knitting, camping, traveling, gardening, animals and taking great care of her family.

Surviving are two sons, John Keller, of Eagle Point, and George Keller, of Grants Pass; two sisters, Donna Allen, of Bardwell, and Myra Zinnen, of South Holland, Ill.; a brother, George Kalman, of Merrillville, Ind.; and three grandchildren.

Earl Noland Caudill

Earl Noland Caudill, 79, of O’Brien, died Monday, May 14, 2007 at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, May 17 at First Love Christian Fellowship in Cave Junction.

Mr. Caudill was born on April 16, 1928 in Turlock, Calif. to Theodore and Ivy Caudill. On July 3, 1999 in Turlock, he married the former Regina “Ginger” Hornsby. They moved to O’Brien from Riverbanks, Calif. during 1999.

He worked for the Ceres, Calif. School District for 20 years until retirement. He was also a farmer and rancher. He was a member of Modesto Calvary Temple while living in Modesto, Calif. He was a member of First Love Christian Fellowship in Cave Junction. His interests included gardening, fishing, horticulture, bowling, motorcycles, camping, Western movies, and horses. He loved telling wonderful stories of his many adventures.

He is survived by his wife, Regina “Ginger” Caudill of O’Brien; two daughters, Deanna Caudill and Linda Caudill-Draske, both of Modesto; a son, Ronald Caudill, of LaGrange, Calif.; a step-daughter, Tawnee Buttram, of O’Brien; three stepsons, Michah Brennan, of White City, Ore., Robert Brennan, of Grants Pass, and Wes Ogden of Ceres, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Chapel of the Valley - LB Hall Funeral Home in Grants Pass was in charge of arrangements.

Louise Ellen Brown

Louise Ellen Brown, 86, of O’Brien, died Monday, May 14, 2007 at her home.

A gathering of her family and friends was held. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors handled arrangements.

Mrs. Brown was born on May 12, 1921 in Los Angeles to Herman & Talitha Milleman. She worked as a silk screen printer for 45 years. In 1978 she moved from Los Angeles to O’Brien.

Her hobbies included reading and sewing.

Survivors are a sister, June Brooks, of Reseda, Calif.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Brown.

Marjorie Jenkins

Former Cave Junction resident Marjorie “Deon” Jenkins, 82, of White City, Ore., died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at her home.

A visitation and service were held May 22 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor Russ Millsaps officiating.

Mrs. Jenkins was born on Jan. 2, 1925 in Paton, Iowa to Bert and Edna Patrick. On Feb. 1, 1975 in Reseda, Calif. she married Edgar Jenkins, and that same year they moved to Cave Junction. She worked for the former E&R Plumbing there for many years. During 2001 they moved to White City.

She volunteered for the Illinois Valley Medical Center Board for six years; Illinois Valley County Meal Site for 10 years; Illinois Valley Senior Center for many years; and was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi.

Her hobbies included bingo, cooking, cards, and serving others.

Surviving are her husband Eddie Jenkins, of White City; three daughters, Betty Williams, of Grants Pass, Penny Trout, of White City, and Patricia Storgaard, of Gold Hill; two stepdaughters, Sharon Matye, of Kernville, Calif., and Carol Tyler, of Northridge, Calif.; a son, Richard Hackstock, of Ashland; a stepson, Daniel Jenkins, of Lancaster, Calif.; a sister, Betty Smittle, of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Gerald Patrick, of Farmington, N.M.; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

James Dwayne Coots

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held Thursday, May 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. at 4774 Waldo Road for James Dwayne Coots, 52, who died May 17, 2007 in Cave Junction.

Mr. Coots was born at Nellis Air Force Base on April 14, 1955.

He graduated from Illinois Valley High School in 1992 as a member of the National Honor Society, and Rogue Community College in 1997.

Mr. Coots is survived by three sons, Dwayne, Michael and Jeffrey; step-children Shelly Steiner and Jack Steiner Jr., of Cave Junction; his mother, LaVella Stephenson; his grandmother, Thelma Goodwin, of Bakersfield, Calif.; three brothers, Steven Coots and Terry Coots, and U.S. Army Staff Sgt. L.E. Johnson, serving in Afghanistan; five sisters, Pamela, Lori, Eva, Jennifer and Pattie; two uncles; one aunt; and many cousins, all in Bakersfield.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Recca Susan; his father, Elmer Coots; his stepfathers, Ray, and Donald Stephenson; three grandparents; and two uncles.

Illinois Valley Funeral Directors is in charge of cremation arrangements.
