John Payne

John Payne, 53, of Cave Junction, died at his home Saturday, May 5, 2007.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 12 at 1 p.m. at Hull & Hull Chapel in Grants Pass. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Payne was born on Feb. 15, 1954 in Oklahoma. He was married to Caroline M. Derry, who survives. He worked as a machinist in the lumber industry.

He moved to Cave Junction from Selma approximately two years ago. Mr. Payne resided in Rogue River before relocating to Selma. He enjoyed horseback riding and scuba diving.

Besides his wife, Caroline Payne, of Cave Junction, he is survived by two daughters, Holly Payne, of Hillsboro, and Robin Mohr, of Beaverton; and 11 grandchildren.

W. ‘Billy Joe’ Lansdown

Warren Eugene “Billy Joe” Lansdown, 70, of Selma, died at his home April 20, 2007. A graveside service was held at Deer Creek Cemetery in Selma.

Mr. Lansdown was born on Oct. 1, 1936 in Mansfield, Mo. He was a traveling man, and he lived in several states. Thirty-seven years ago he moved to Selma. He worked as a mechanic and welder, and transported RVs.

On July 2, 2002, he married Lois Edmunds, who survives. He enjoyed playing guitar and mandolin, gold-panning, hunting, and being with his family.

Besides his wife, he is survived by eight children: Donna Weisenberger, of Portland, Tim Lansdown, of Aurora, Colo., Jody Lewis, of San Jacinto, Calif., Deana Ingersal, of Selma; and Debbie Russell, Jack Lansdown and Joycee Franklin, all of Paragould, Ark., and Rick Lansdown, of California; four stepchildren, Julie Camp, of Cave Junction, Bill Edmunds, of Bend, Tom Edmunds, of Creswell, and Karen Powell, of Oakridge; a brother, Harvey Lansdown, of Ohio; three sisters, Laverne Held, of Denver, Shirley Tone, of Upland, Calif., and Dianne Day, of Aurora, Colo.; 37 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Steven Lansdown and Jeffrey Lansdown; and a stepdaughter, Tami Scott.

John H. Goodwin

Selma resident John Henry Goodwin, 54, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at an adult foster care home in Grants Pass.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, May 5 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Grants Pass. Father Peter O’Brien officiated. Committal will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens in rural Grants Pass.

Mr. Goodwin was born on Aug. 26, 1952 in North Tonawanda, N.Y. He grew up there and in St. Petersburg , Fla. He moved to Selma from Afton, N.Y. in 1993. He had lived in Grants Pass for the past five years.

He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. He was an enthusiastic sports fan, and he enjoyed politics, fishing, and family and friends.

He is survived by his sister, Susan Vance, of Selma; three brothers, Charles Goodwin, of Afton, Richard Goodwin, of Bryson City, N.C., and Gerald Goodwin, of Orlando, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his care-givers, Bill & Carmen Hottle, of Grants Pass.

Chapel of the Valley-L.B. Hall in Grants Pass was in charge of arrangements.

Scott Tracy

Scott Tracy, 38, of Cave Junction, died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at a nursing center in Grants Pass. Arrangements are pending at Stephens Family Chapel in Grants Pass.

George McClane

No service is planned for George J. McClane, 80, of Grants Pass, who died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at a care facility in Grants Pass.

Mr. McClane was born on March 9, 1927 in Riddle.

Arrangements were directed by Stephens Family Chapel in Grants Pass.

Ruth Harland

Ruth Louise Harland, 88, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at a health center in Grants Pass. Arrangements are pending at Stephens Family Chapel.

Gisele Gould

Gisele G. Gould, 42, of O’Brien, died Friday, May 4, 2007 at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass.
