Children's pet parade, fair in CJ park Saturday
There’ll be animals and other attractions galore for youngsters Saturday, May 5 in Jubilee Park during the 10th annual Illinois Valley Children’s Fair & Pet Parade.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Pet Parade is set for 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with registration from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Previous parades have included critters from lizards, rats, hamsters and rabbits to goats, miniature ponies and snakes. Plus a bunch of cats and dogs.
The free event will include face-painting, a fishing booth, Annie the Clown, Smokey Bear, kite-making and the Illinois Valley Lions Club train. There will be free snacks, and a limited supply of free bike helmets.
Illinois Valley Fire District will check for proper installation of car seats and booster seats. And a limited number of car seats will be given away.
The 10th annual occurrence has a wide range of co-sponsors.
