HISTORY HEROES - Six students at Lorna Byrne Middle School are raising funds to attend National History Day competition in Washington, D.C. from June 9 to 17 with their teacher, Lacey Fox. The LBMS students placed second in state competition in Salem. Sierra Heikka and Zach Kay won for a documentary, “John McLouglin: Father of Oregon.” Myana Dhenin, Angelia Heath, Jamie Sowell and Kristen Vidales were winners in the group play category with their presentation about the Salem (Mass.) witch trials. All donations are tax-deductible and can be made payable to the LBMS History Day Fund. They can left at the office or mailed to 101 S. Junction Ave. in Cave Junction.

GOOD FOR GRADS - A benefit for the Illinois Valley High School Class of 2007 All-Night Grad Party will be held at the school Saturday, May 5. There will be a dinner, fashion show and silent auction.
