Environmental art outing

AN ENVIRONMENTAL ART OUTING at Illinois River ‘Forks’ State Park was conducted Tuesday, April 24. Illinois Valley High School students, in a group that has come to be known as the ‘Doodlebugs,’ worked with students from I.V. Head Start in Cave Junction. The two groups had been studying the work of environmental artist Andy Goldsworthy. Elaine Barker, IVHS art teacher, said that the older students were impressed with the work of their younger counterparts. They meet with them each Tuesday. At the ’Forks’ the students created a number of sculptures using natural found material. (Photo by Dale & Elaine Sandberg for ’Illinois Valley News’)
