Thomas R. Engles
Thomas Ray “Bino” Engles, 61, of Selma, died Friday, March 30, 2007 at Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford.
A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14 at his home.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Attn: Memorial/Honor Program PH, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
Mr. Engles was born Oct. 6, 1945 in Salinas, Calif. He moved to Cloverdale, Calif. in 1961, where he met the love of his life. On Oct. 4, 1963 in Santa Rosa, Calif. he married Linda Joleen Hewitt. They celebrated 43 years together.
He moved to Selma in 1984, and owned and operated E & H Painting from 1985 to 2005, retiring in 2005 as a result of a disability. He was a member of Cave Junction Lions Club for one year and a member of Illinois Valley Golf Association for 15 years. His hobbies included cribbage, golf, going to the ocean, hunting and his grandchildren.
He is remembered by his wife, Linda Engles of Selma; two sons, Richard Engles of Selma, and Johnny Engles, of Cave Junction; two daughters, Rasha Smith and Rebecca Engles, both of Cave Junction; sister, Ellen Couch, of Yacolt Wash.; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.
Jack Ethridge
Grants Pass resident Jack Howard Ethridge, 79, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
No service is planned. Memorial contributions can be made to the IVHS girls softball team, c/o Illinois Valley High School, 625 E. River Street, Cave Junction, OR, 97523.
Mr. Ethridge was born July 23, 1927 in Tipton, Okla. He served in the U.S. Army with the 40th Recon Company during the Korean War.
On August 16, 1963, Mr. Ethridge married Mary Budd in Gardena, Calif. He worked as a distribution supervisor for Union Oil Co. for 32 years until retirement in 1988.
He moved from Cypress, Calif., to O’Brien, where he lived for 16 years.
Mr. Ethridge enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren and his dog. He also enjoyed softball and he assisted with the Illinois Valley High School girls softball team for several years.
He is survived by his wife; sons Doug Hagee, of Umatilla, and Don Hagee, of Farmington, Missouri; daughter Jacqui Van Tassel, of Cave Junction; brother Bob Ethridge of Sun City, Ariz.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Hagee, and a brother, Woody Reed Ethridge.

Janna L. Carter
Janna Lynne Carter, 56, of O’Brien died Saturday, March 31, 2007 at her home.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Janna was born May 27, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended schools in Indiana and later attended the University of Indiana for several years. Janna completed a certified lab assistant program in Denver, Colorado in 1985. In 1998 she moved from California to O’Brien. Together with her partner, Donna Devine, she owned and managed Sage Beetle in Cave Junction from 1999 to 2004.
She was a member of SRF (Self Realization Fellowship).
She enjoyed spending time in meditation, hiking, and raising dairy goats. From the age of 17, she was a professional bass guitar player and played in various bands.
Survivors include her partner, Donna Devine of O’Brien; cousins, Phyllis Simmons of Chico, California, James Blank of Whittier, California, Janet Vette of Sedona, Arizona, Bette Harper of Laguna Beach, California, Marci Ann Cheek of Indianapolis, Indiana and Rick of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Rodney Stulce
Rodney Arvin Stulce, 53, of Selma died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at his residence in Selma.
A celebration of his life will be held at the property in Selma Saturday afternoon, April 14th.

Mr. Stulce was born on October 11, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri. He will be remembered by a large and loving circle of family and friends.
Mr. Stulce leaves behind his son, Raymond Stulce of Selma; and daughters Anna May Stulce of Texas, and Chauntelle Stulce of Selma.
