Tales from the Police Blotter

* * *

Wednesday, Nov. 15

*A former Illinois Valley High School student who still is riding the bus mornings and afternoons and hangs around the campus was to be warned about theft of services and trespassing.

*Charles D. Brooks, 58, was cited at Illinois River “Forks” State Park on a misdemeanor warrant charging failure to comply with terms of probation.

*A man was contacted on Takilma Road after someone reported that he’d been removing mail from mailboxes. He denied it, and a deputy could not find any mail.

*Several sections of telephone line were cut out on Caves Hwy., disrupting service to Oregon Caves National Monument, an employee said. The National Park Service was made aware, as the theft fell under its jurisdiction.

*On Cowboy Way, a man advised that he was going to use a firecracker to frighten away something which was attacking his chicken. He was concerned that his neighbor might phone as a result of the disturbance.

Thursday, Nov. 16

*A rusted barrel containing a plastic-wrapped dead thing was discovered on an old BLM road near Crickett Lane. The remains were determined be an animal.

*In the 9000 block of Takilma Road a man said that his intoxicated neighbor was threatening him.

*Michael E. Hubbard, 27, was cited on a charge of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. He and his companion were contacted on Little Grayback Road, where they were warned about harvesting mushrooms without a permit.

*A white Toyota Camry was reported stolen from a Josephine Avenue address.

*“Horrible music with vulgar words” was all a Cave Hwy. woman could hear when she answered a phone call just before 9 p.m. She in turn phoned the caller, who cussed her out when told not to phone anymore, she said.

Friday, Nov. 17

*A large cougar was sighted in the 5000 block of Takilma Road. OSP Fish & Game was notified as well.

*On Deer Creek Road a driver reported having to avoid a tall man in ratty clothing who tried to get in front of his vehicle.

*In the 4200 block of Holland Loop, two men tried to pick a fight with the driver of a vehicle which had just struck one man, tossing him into a ditch. A witness said that all parties were intoxicated and had angrily left.

*Just after 10 p.m. “party crashers” created an angry ruckus in the 1300 block of Caves Hwy.

Saturday, Nov. 18

*On Waldo Road a driver reported having struck a 300-pound black bear. The animal had not left the area he said. An OSP game trooper was notified.

*A woman who tried to return merchandise to a Downtown CJ business “belly-butted” the owner and threatened to break the front window when she was refused.

*Though told not to return, a woman was refusing to leave Siskiyou Market, and a deputy was requested to remove her.

Sunday, Nov. 19

*Rebecca Lynn Brown, 53, was cited on charges of driving with a suspended license (DWS), driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII) and refusing a blood alcohol test after her vehicle was found in a ditch on Sauer’s Flat around midnight.

*A Kerby resident’s Nissan was reported stolen early this morning. The vehicle was recovered around 9:30 a.m., not far away but with heavy body damage and two flat tires.

*On W. River Street a resident reported $300 damage to the ignition unit of her car.

*A Tracy Lane resident reported hearing two loud gunshots around 8:30 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 20

*On Hamilton Avenue a dog had been barking for hours, a neighbor complained at 2 a.m.

*Rodney Lee Flansburg, 32, was taken to Three Rivers Community Hospital on a peace officer’s mental hold after attempting to break into his home and threatening his wife.

*Christopher R. Cauldwell, 34, was lodged in Josephine County Jail on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault.

*A Dick George Road resident said she’d received a mostly garbled phone message in which a voice whispered, “You’re gonna’ die in three days.”

*An employee at Valley Farm & Garden reported a recurring problem with a woman who grabs items and attempts to leave with them. Today, it was said, she tried to take two bags of grain, and some hay, and became belligerent about leaving. Subsequently, Neilia Beth Pierson, 53, was lodged in Josephine County Jail on several warrants charging failure to appear on charges including third-degree robbery, menacing, second-degree criminal trespassing, contempt of court, assault, second and third-degree assault, third-degree theft and negotiating a bad check.

*Regardless of the locked gas-cap or pad-locked, fenced, parking space, gasoline was siphoned from two buses parked on E. River Street, a caller said.

*Three men and a woman beat him up at Jubilee Park, a caller reported around 3 p.m. They also stole his wallet and his prescription medication, he said.

*When a care-taker at Laurel Cemetery attempted to confront someone about his driving, he nearly ran her over, she said.

*James Lee Ziegler,45, was cited on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault.

Tuesday, Nov. 21

*A man reported that his van, stolen from an Addison Lane address, probably by his daughter’s “ex,” who’s thought armed, dangerous and a “heavy meth user.”

*A woman reported receiving a threatening message from her estranged husband, who told she was “playing with fire.”

*Two men were reported drinking beer while sitting in a vehicle in Downtown CJ. They then began to yell at the caller for phoning 911.

*An intoxicated man caused a disturbance at Kerby High Pines trailer park at 8 p.m.
