Thursday, Nov. 2
*Two men who stood around for 20 minutes outside a Cave Junction bank before it opened this morning made a bank employee nervous until it was determined the men were there to open an account. Then the employee was nervous no longer.
*Lorey Renee Ellis, 30, was lodged in Josephine County Jail on a charge of violating a restraining order.
*After a tire was slashed on his wife’s car while it was parked at a Downtown CJ business, an employee helped her, a caller said. The helpful employee also mentioned that his relative at a CJ service station could fix the tire. The caller thought the damage might have been intentional to provide customers.
*Some $45 worth of gasoline was reported stolen from a bus in the 600 block of E. River Street.
*A Deer Creek Road resident complained that a 13-year-old neighbor boy was damaging his driveway by spinning out and making holes with a four-wheel-drive pickup truck.
*A middle school student stuffed “debris” into a toilet at the I.V. Family Resource center, a woman reported. This caused blockage (in the toilet), and a plumber was called.
*While he admitted that he started a fight at Jubilee Park, an intoxicated 22-year-old man said that his mother wanted him to report that he’d been assaulted.
*Suspected poachers were reported on BLM property off McMullen Creek Road at 5:30 p.m.
*She’d received three threatening phone calls from another woman this week, said a Pinewood Way resident.
*An anonymous caller wanted to alert authorities to a “crank house” in Selma, but disconnected before providing more information.
Friday, Nov. 3
*A complainant claimed that without his permission, a business withdrew $400 from his account to cover an outstanding bill. He was pursuing the matter through civil court.
*Driving a tow truck, Michael Jason Phillips, 26, was cited on a charge of driving with a suspended license (DWS). The tow truck was impounded.
*Ronald L. Johnson, 58, was cited on charges of failure to register as a sex offender and failure to report a change of address.
*In Selma a woman said that a hitch-hiker had stolen something from her vehicle. She kept the sheriff’s office call-taker on the line while she confronted the person, who returned the object without incident.
*A business owner in Downtown CJ sought assistance with a longstanding problem of loitering vagrants, but the happy group left prior to a deputy’s arrival.
*Two men were shooting guns in front of a house nearby, according to a woman on Pine Cone Drive.
*It was feared that an “eccentric” woman might return to a residence in the 800 block of Caves Hwy. and attempt to drain the swimming pool. The home owner was told to phone again if the woman returned.
Saturday, Nov. 4
*Brought to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass by private vehicle around midnight with abdominal stab wounds, an uncooperative Selma man denied having been stabbed.
*In the 700 block of Pine Cone Drive prowlers were reported at 2:15 a.m. The caller said that her husband had fired a gunshot in the air to scare away the flashlight-wielding intruders. The residents were advised about gun safety and to phone again if the prowlers returned.
*Though he maintained that the resident was a squatter, a property owner was told not to return to a Lone Mountain Road residence until he began an eviction process against the tenant.
*From Hogue Drive a woman was taken to Three Rivers Community Hospital because someone somehow had run over one of her feet.
*Minors in possession of alcohol and a loud, week-long party on Dogwood Lane at Madrona Drive were the topics of an anonymous complaint around 8:45 p.m.
*His ex-friend was at his residence and refused to leave, said a Kerby man. The woman explained that she thought she’d be allowed to stay there. They were advised of their civil options, and their options regarding the pet cat.
Sunday, Nov. 5
*A pair of ATV riders were trespassing on private property behind a locked gate on Cedarbrook Lane, a man said.
*OSP was notified of an unresponsive man lying alongside Redwood Hwy. at Laurel Road at 2 p.m.
Monday, Nov. 6
*Eight days ago, a man said, the female passenger of another car at Dairy Queen dinged his vehicle when she opened her door. The occupants of the other car then left without determining the ding damage.
*“Transients” were said to have been coming and going all day from a motorhome parked on a Downtown CJ parking lot. The owner advised that the vehicle would be relocated the next day.
Tuesday, Nov. 7
*Around 12:30 a.m. it was reported that a group of four persons with a bloodhound were throwing rocks at businesses in the 100 block of N. Redwood Hwy. It was not indicated whether the dog was throwing or just watching.
*A noise complaint was received from Honeybee Lane at 2:21 a.m.
*A man and woman were said to be verbally fighting over custody of two young children at the CJ 76 gas station at 12:52 a.m.
*Someone attempted to steal his Ford Explorer, said a man in the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. Due to damage to the ignition, the vehicle was undrivable, he reported.
*Said to have made verbal threats to harm her mother, Emily K. Carroll, 13, was cited as beyond parental control and transported to the Juvenile Justice Center in Grants Pass.
*A woman said that she suffered a broken rib and bruising when she was pushed from a porch while attempting to retrieve her belongings from a Hogue Drive residence last week.
*Continuing trouble with a woman who keeps trying to siphon water from a swimming pool in the 800 block of Caves Hwy. was reported. The home owner asked that the woman be contacted and told not to trespass. It was not clear why she was trying to drain the pool.
*A suspicious person hanging around a home under construction on W. River Street turned out to be the flooring contractor, and everything was OK. Why he was first thought to be suspicious was not noted.
*Unauthorized entry to a motor vehicle, second-degree criminal mischief, and second-degree theft were listed following a break-in in the 29000 block of Redwood Hwy. An ax was used to break vehicle windows, and several items were removed.
*Cited on a charge of driving uninsured, Charles E. Clark, 55, also was warned for failure to maintain a lane and failure to carry and present his license on Redwood Hwy. at River Street at 10:09 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 8
*Approximately $10,000 in fraudulent charges were made to his credit card via the Internet, according to a man on Kirkham Road.
*A gold Chevy four-wheel-drive pickup truck was reportedly stolen from a residence on Thompson Creek Road.
*A stolen, gold Chevy pickup truck was recovered at Seats Dam at 4 p.m.
*Two men who’d been evicted from a residence on Hogue Drive returned, the property owner said. It was determined that they were subject to trespassing charges.
*On Caves Avenue a man said that his ex-girlfriend, against whom he has a restraining order, reported to county animal control that his dog was injured, and he felt she’d done this just to get back at him. The dog was OK.
