Thursday, Oct. 26
*At 12:37 a.m. a man on Queen of Bronze Road said that his neighbors were making animal noises which sounded “like a sheep calling his name.” A deputy was unable to locate any sheep voices or suspicious activity.
*A stolen pickup truck was recovered off Bear Creek Road.
*The mother of an Illinois Valley High School student said that a recent graduate had been harassing her child, and threatening to beat her.
*Another stolen vehicle, a white Toyota with no wheels or engine, was located on its top in a separate location off Bear Creek Road. The owner was notified.
*Three Lorna Byrne Middle School students were to be warned about their behavior after reportedly assaulting another boy walking home on S. Junction Avenue.
*Someone slashed her vehicle’s tire while it was parked in the 100 block of N. Redwood Hwy., a woman said. She said it was the second such occurrence this year.
*A man with long black hair was attempting to pick fights with other customers and refusing to leave, a CJ bartender noted at 8:21 p.m.
*On N. Junction Avenue at 8:30 p.m., someone was banging on a woman’s door in an aggressive manner, she said. She was unsure of their identity, but decided that she didn’t need deputy contact.
*Two men were going door-to-door in Kerby, showing a typewritten list of magazines they were selling. A caller thought it suspicious.
*The sign listing park hours at Illinois River “Forks” State Park had either been “moved, torn down or stolen,” a deputy noted.
Friday, Oct. 27
*A combative person was screaming at medical personnel at Illinois Valley Fire District Station 1 on Caves Hwy. at 10 a.m.
*The rear half of a pickup truck with a California license plate was located at Six Mile Campground.
*Craig Richard Holloway, 59, was charged with a restraining order violation and lodged in Josephine County Jail after an anonymous party phoned law enforcement.
*A burglary was reported in the 1900 block of Lakeshore Drive. The thieves gained entry by smashing a window, and they took a television, jewelry and alcohol.
*Because a 15-year-old boy made a threat to bring a weapon to IVHS homecoming activities, extra deputy and reserve coverage was requested during the football game and dance.
Saturday, Oct. 28
*Cussing at the manager, a woman was refusing to leave Cave Junction 76 service station when asked shortly after 3 p.m.
*After he requested a deputy make his ex-wife give back to him an Oregon Trail Card, a man was advised of his options.
*A woman stated that another was harassing her with phone calls and text messages for no known reason. The other person was warned about her behavior.
*All four tires on a vehicle parked at Sterling Savings Bank had its tires slashed, a woman reported.
*At 10:40 p.m. the owner of a Downtown CJ business said that a red-haired man had been sitting on a bench in front of her store and appeared to have been drinking. He claimed to be “scared” and would not leave when asked, she said. He eventually did.
*When he returned an hour later, the red-haired man was “yelling, screaming, cussing and threatening” while he tore up a sign in front of the store.
*On Holland Loop a woman said that a man with whom she’s to have no contact had been showing up on her property to harass her.
Sunday, Oct. 29
*At 1:20 a.m. a man on Holland Loop said that his intoxicated wife was hitting him. Also, he said, she brings home other men for “intimate relations” and kicks him out. Sometimes, he said, she brings women “so she can watch them be with [him].” This is a continuing problem, he said.
*Investigating a report of automatic gunfire and bombs exploding in the 1000 block of Briggs Valley Road, a deputy questioning the “funsters” determined that the explosive in question was legal to possess. However, the less than an ounce of marijuana also located was not. Michael Andrew Merrall, 30, was cited on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
*Half a dozen folks loitering in front of a Downtown CJ business were anonymously complained about at 5:12 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 30
*Eight to 12 gunshots were fired at a vehicle on Pine Cone Drive, a man reported at 12:26 p.m. At the same time, someone attempted to enter the house through a window, he said.
*Driving on Westside Road just after 1 a.m. a woman said that she saw white sheets with “KKK” written on them in red, and “bodies stuffed in white sheets” with red letters along the roadway. A deputy removed one such sheet attached to a tree, but saw nothing else like what she’d described.
*Two people were determined to be residing in an unclean meth lab site on Naue Way, and they ought not to have been.
*Stopped on S. Redwood Hwy. Benjamin B. Hoffman, 20, was cited on charges of driving uninsured and driving with a suspended license (DWS). He cited was also on a charge of failure to appear on a charge of interfering with a police officer.
*On S. Junction Avenue a woman reported having been awakened the night before by someone attempting to open her bedroom window.
*It was thought that squatters had taken over a residence on Dogwood Lane, an anonymous caller said. All the neighbors had been complaining.
*A caller suspected two men to whom she gave a ride of stealing her wallet containing some cash, credit cards and driver license.
*On W. River Street a caller said that hunters were trespassing on her property.
*In the ceiling above their bed they found a suspicious hole stuffed with toilet paper, residents on S. Junction Avenue reported. It was thought to be peep hole or perhaps for a camera.
Tuesday, Oct. 31
*At 6:51 a.m. a Lone Mountain Road resident reported having been assaulted over an argument about medical marijuana.
*A Queen of Bronze Road resident advised the sheriff’s office of his Halloween party, which he expected would be concluded by 10 p.m. He further expected that neighbors would complain, because he’d be shooting “pumpkin chunk-ers” toward his hillside.
*On Greenview Drive a man said his wife had been nearly run over when she tried to tell ATV operators they were not permitted to ride on adjacent BLM land.
*Three men standing near their pickup truck at the “Forks” were taking turns shooting a gun, a caller said at 2:20 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 1
*Observed failing to obey a traffic control device on Redwood Hwy. at Deer Creek Road, Cody Lee Johnson, 20, was cited on charges of DWS and driving without insurance. His vehicle was impounded.
*Christopher J. Alexander, was cited on charges of DWS, driving uninsured and switched plates. His vehicle was impounded.
*Angry at her for some reason pertaining to a dog, a man was trespassing in her yard and yelling at her, said a woman on Boundry Lane. The man told a deputy that he thought she’d had one of his dogs. The deputy noted that the man had several dogs, none of which appeared to be licensed, so Animal Control was to follow up.
*Former tenants took furniture when they moved out, a man in the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy. complained. He was unhappy to be told that it was a civil issue.
*A man wearing all black clothing and sunglasses was staggering in traffic on Caves Hwy. a caller said at 4:33 p.m.
