Thursday, Oct. 5
*Her 15-year-old son had been allowed by her brother to smoke marijuana, a woman said, and she wanted a deputy to counsel the boy.
*Someone came and took possession of a stray dog for which a Waldo Road resident had been caring for three months. But Animal Control told them they could keep the animal if they’d had it for more than 30 days. They were told it was a civil issue.
*A two-car crash was reported on the parking lot at Stevereno’s Family Restaurant at 4:10 p.m.
*On Rockydale Road a woman said that her cat had been shot in one ankle, for which she’d incurred a $130 veterinarian bill.
Friday, Oct. 6
*Here and there throughout Illinois Valley, extra patrol was conducted just after midnight.
*Just before 2 p.m. a large group of young people were milling around on S. Caves Avenue, a caller said. It appeared that some of them might be starting a fight.
*A man in tennis shoes and dark clothing was seen darting in and out of traffic on Rockydale Road at 3 p.m.
*Two children thought to be no older than 2 years were playing on the roadway on E. River Street around 4 p.m., a caller said. An adult was located who said that a 10-year-old was supposed to have been watching them.
*A restraining order violation was claimed on Hogue Drive.
Saturday, Oct. 7
*Drivers exchanged information following a minor collision on the parking lot of Shop Smart Food Warehouse just before noon.
*A man with a green bicycle appeared to be napping just off the roadway on Redwood Hwy. near Rockydale Road at 6:45 p.m.
*Everything checked out secure following a motion detection alarm at the Cave Junction Post Office at 6 p.m.
*At Oregon Caves Chateau an intoxicated guest was behaving belligerently, a desk clerk said at 10:42 p.m. Shortly thereafter he went to his room, and no further assistance was necessary.
Sunday, Oct. 8
*Extremely loud television volume was causing a sleepless night for one Honeybee Lane resident, and his neighbor was advised of the county noise ordinance around 2 a.m.
*When she went to a S. Old Stage Road address to “pick up her items,” a woman reported that a man threatened to get a gun, and that he assaulted her. During an interview, a deputy ascertained that the “item” in question was methamphetamine. She was determined to be uninjured, and reports were forwarded to the appropriate parole officer and drug task force.
*A young woman from Cave Junction advised a camp counselor that her mother’s boyfriend was abusing her.
*Numerous windows were broken and other senseless acts of vandalism occurred at Evergreen Elementary School around 7 p.m.
*On S. Old Stage Road a man flagged down an officer. He then became irate at the officer’s presence and phoned 911 to get him to leave.
*Explosions heard near Queen of Bronze Road were blamed on a neighbor. That man’s care-giver claimed he was sleeping, and suggested the complainant had actually done it.
*Four young “funsters” were said to be throwing rocks at passing motorists on Redwood Hwy. at Laurel Road at 7:23 p.m., but they could not be located.
*Observed operating a vehicle on a public roadway and known to a deputy to be driving with a suspended license, Jeremy W. Vineyard, 25, was cited in the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy. on a charge of driving while suspended at 11:28 a.m.
*Some sort of disturbance was occurring involving yelling and neighbors, said a man on Queen of Bronze Road at 3:30 p.m. It appeared to be part of a continuing dispute.
*On S. Kerby Avenue a woman said that she returned home to find a man touching her front door knob. He then acted as though he was looking for someone else, she said, which seemed suspicious.
*Three men with rifles were walking south on Rockydale Road, and a caller thought this worth reporting at 8 p.m.
*Seen drinking and urinating between two buildings in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 10 p.m., Gary M. Rodrigues, 49, was cited on several charges of failure to appear on previous charges of criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct and offensive littering.
