Saturday, Aug. 5
*Someone cut three hoses in the 7000 block of Caves Hwy. reportedly causing $40 damage.
*There was a dog attacking a goat on Warren Road, and the resulting commotion was worrisome to neighbors, who reported a disturbance at 10:22 a.m.
*Road repair equipment at Six Mile Campground on Illinois River Road was said vandalized overnight.
*Charles R. Coplen, 21, stopped in the 4000 block of Illinois River Road, was cited on charges of failure to maintain a lane (FaMaLa), driving with a suspended license (DWS), and driving uninsured. He also was cited on a warrant charging failure to appear (FTA).
*Cited on charges of FaMaLa today on Illinois River Road: Debra L. Patterson, 48; Joseph R. Draves, 45; Hailey C. Matthews, 17, (also cited on a charge of failure to carry proof of insurance); and Lisa J. Boehmer, 42, (also cited on a charge of failure to carry proof of insurance.)
*On Illinois River Road, Nancy Rohn, 42, was cited for lack of an Oregon ID. Her passengers, William Rohn, 48, and Byron L. Merideth, 23, were cited on charges of failure to wear seat belts.
*Robert A. McKeehen, 33, was cited on charges of driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUII), DWS, driving uninsured and FaMaLa. His passenger, Theresa M. McGoogan, 40, was cited on a charge of permitting unlawful operation, and the vehicle was impounded.
*“Lots of transients” were drinking and yelling at Illinois River “Forks” State Park, said an informant who mentioned that “something was about to happen.”
*Having removed the sliding-glass door from a home in the 7000 block of Caves Hwy., burglars then tried to steal a bed and refrigerator, but apparently nothing was taken, a caller said.
*A man on Kerby Avenue said that his step-son had been making threats.
*Near Seats Dam a toddler had been left in a locked pickup truck, a caller said, and no one was attending to it. The vehicle and its occupants left prior to a deputy’s arrival and could not be located.
*On Reeves Creek Road a woman said that her husband had been verbally abusive in front of the children, and then he left.
*Three men contacted near the former CJ Select Market at 9:14 p.m. were advised of the city alcohol ordinance and dumped their beers.
*Another guy drinking beer in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. was made to dump his at 9:37 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 6
*From the public telephones at Oregon Caves Chevron at 12:19 a.m., a woman said that she’d been punched in the face by a man at a party on Waldo Road. The incident was turned over to another officer for follow-up, because the alleged assailant is a relative of the deputy who took the report.
*Michael S. Tice, 53, was cited on a charge of possession of a controlled substance (PCS) after an officer “smelled a strong odor of marijuana” of coming from Tice’s vehicle.
*His neighbor, who has been “extremely mean” in recent days, has been shooting “recklessly” toward his property and at a metal screen he’d erected to block their offending laser beams, said a man in the 7000 block of Caves Hwy.
*On N. Junction Avenue a woman complained that she couldn’t leave her house because the neighbor’s dog would bark and try to bite her and her son.
*A 30-odd-year-old cyclist who “bounced off a vehicle” on Caves Hwy. was attended to by an Oregon Caves National Monument-based EMT. A mile from the scene, the medic responded on his motorcycle with a first-aid kit to take care of the guy, who was reportedly “a little out of it.”
*After a taxi driver refused to take his passenger any farther, alleging that the man had been threatening him, the man was given a ride from south of CJ to Hay’s Hill.
*Ryan James Dutton, 33, was cited in Illinois Valley on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault and lodged in Josephine County Jail.
*On N. Junction Avenue a dog reportedly attempted to bite a cyclist while the owner sat and watched. The complainant indicated that there were multiple witnesses.
*A valley man claimed that he was receiving harassing phone calls from a couple who threatened to blow up his vehicles.
*Several items including $300 worth of tools, a DVD player, and a number of DVD movies were reported stolen from a garage on E. River Street.
Monday, Aug. 7
*Ambulance service uniforms were reported stolen from a vehicle on N. Sawyer Avenue. Thieves smashed the driver-side window to gain entry.
*In Selma a woman said she believed that her ex-husband stole her license plates, but couldn’t prove it.
*Someone put sugar in the fuel tank of his brown Ford pickup truck, said a man on Shadywood Drive.
*A driver said that she had to swerve to avoid hitting a kid on a bicycle on Caves Hwy., only to have him run into her vehicle, causing reported damage of approximately $500.
*People were riding ATVs on power line roads between Kerby and Cave Junction, annoying a caller because they trespassed on his property to get there.
*At 11:30 p.m. someone was riding a quad on Kerby Street, turning circles, creating a lot of noise and making it difficult for one caller to sleep.
Tuesday, Aug. 8
*The rear window of a pickup truck parked at Junction Inn was removed and the stereo stolen.
*A man driving a brand-new pickup truck caused some sort of disturbance in Selma and then drove away.
*Investigating a July hit-and-run, an LAPD officer requested a deputy contact a resident on Deer Creek Road, but it appeared that everyone had moved.
*Two people were taken into custody on Greenview Road in what was termed “assistance to U.S. marshal.”
*Two young men were seen taking a large quantity of firearms from her residence, said a woman on Dick George Road. She said she had no idea the guns were there, as she hadn’t been living there.
*Neilia Beth Pierson, 53, was cited on warrants charging FTA on charges of robbery, menacing, theft and criminal trespass.
*Perry Niles Hilsabeck, 49, was cited on a charge of disorderly conduct after a deputy received complaints that he was peeing in public.
*Marshall B Elliott, 20, and John M. Cavanagh, 18, each were cited on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol after they were caught drinking under a bridge south of CJ.
*Some teen-aged boys were said to be drinking alcohol in Jubilee Park around 11:30 p.m., but they could not be located.
Wednesday, Aug. 9
*A large roll of carpet padding (still wrapped in plastic) was removed to the side of Lakeshore Drive.
*The “remains” of two stolen Toyota pickup trucks were recovered in the woods near a logging road off Crooks Creek Road.
*In a continuing property dispute in the 11000 block of Caves Hwy. a man said that another had pushed him down for taking pictures of him operating heavy equipment.
*On N. Redwood Hwy. a business owner said that a large rental truck was blocking his driveway.
*The owner of a white Neon was advised, while reporting the car stolen, that it had been involved in a crash on Holland Loop, and was there over an embankment to be retrieved.
*A group of five kids on W. River Street were refusing to move out of the way of cars, and were making rude comments, a caller said at 10:30 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 10
*Sam Miguel Taylor, 37, was cited on a charge of DWS and his vehicle impounded.
*Susan Lee Minnick, 36, was cited on a charge of PCS and lodged in county jail.
*A driver whose car rolled over into a ditch on Redwood Hwy. near Patton Bar Road at 7:30 a.m. fled the scene, two callers said.
*A 15-year-old girl was found to be in possession of tobacco at Jubilee Park around noon.
*A man and his “vicious” dog living in a bus on some vacant land in Cave Junction were given seven hours to clear out.
*Littering was reported on Redwood Hwy.
*Detained on Eight Dollar Mountain Road, Martin Aguilar-Serafin, 17. was transported to an INS detention site in Medford.
*Behind McGrew’s Restaurant, a boisterous group of children was informed that someone thought there was a fight because of all the racket.
*A Patton Bar Road resident said that someone had been fraudulently using her credit card in New York.
*Sam Miguel Taylor, 37, was cited on charges of parole violation and DWS, and lodged in county jail. His vehicle was impounded.
*Kale Allen Frieze, 29, was cited on a charge of FaMaLa on Illinois River Road.
*A Kerby woman said that her Ford T-Bird had been taken without permission.
*Arthur C. Murphy II, 44, was cited on charges of FaMaLa and driving uninsured on Illinois River Road around 4 p.m.
*At a Selma business a man had been hanging around the property, and had apparently lit a fire to cook, leaving the burning debris on the porch. The complainant sought extra patrol.
*An 18-year-old man was reported harassing his mother and grandmother in their Kerby neighborhood, throwing rocks at the windows and yelling. His relatives and the park manager wanted him to leave, but he refused until an officer told him to move on.
*Moving out due to continuing problems with neighbors, a man on Norman Road wanted it noted that he thought they were going to cause trouble for him.
Friday, Aug. 11
*Just after 1 a.m. a man in CJ said that he received a call from a man who described his dog, and gave an address where the man could come get it. Except the man knew that his dog was in the house with him.
*Blank checks and a Swiss Army knife were reported stolen from a residence in the 5000 block of Dick George Road.
*Advised of a complaint about their drinking and carrying on behind St. Mathias Episcopal Church, some street people moved on.
*A business owner on N. Redwood Hwy. said that another man, who works nearby, has been harassing his customers and occupying his parking spaces.
*On a grocery store parking lot, a man said that somebody backed into his pickup truck, denting its chrome bumper.
*Gilbert M. Church, 66, was cited on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, pointing a firearm at another and menacing after a disturbance on Norman Road. He was lodged in county jail.
*Logan J. Genaw, 25, was cited on charges of FaMaLa and inadequate fenders in the 4000 block of Illinois River Road.
*Mose S. Wahlstrom, 37, was cited on a charge of FaMaLa on that same road.
*Someone accessed a Cave Junction woman’s personal information and attempted to purchase some 28 items using her online auction account, she said.
*Aric C. Genaw, 20, was cited on charges of FaMaLa and inadequate fenders in the 4000 block of Illinois River Road.
*A caller on Reeves Creek Road complained about people shooting in a nearby ravine. She said that when another neighbor yelled at them to stop, the shooters advised, “F--- you!”
*Officers ascertained that a 19-year-old man on Laurel Road, who was screaming that he was “out of his mind” and “cursing God at the top of his lungs” with blaring music was venting anger after a confrontation with his mother, and was not a mental subject.
*Two men with two dogs who claimed to be “security” were seen at the second bridge south of CJ at 10:30 p.m. The complainant couldn’t recall security people there before, and thought it was odd.
